Insomnia

Here are a few options worth trying.

1.) Glycine — take it at night before bed. Minimum of 3grams, though 6-9 grams is also fine.

Should that not be enough...

2.) Magnesium glycinate — roughly 1,000 mgs before bed at night.

Should that not be enough...

3.) Give this 3-part stack a shot: Ashwagandha (the ksm66 version, 600mg), L theanine (200mg), and melatonin (5mg). Take 1 pill of each at night before bed.

NOW is the brand I use. Any brand you prefer is fine.

This sight (no affiliate code lol) is the one I normally go with. It carries a massive range of supplements and the prices tend to be the lowest.

Hope this helps.
I appreciate it.

😅 I'm already on 2000mg magnesium glycinate, plus 250mg ashwaganda and 400mg l-theanine.

It could be worth exploring magnesium glycinate. This form is usually easier on the stomach and less apt to bring on digestive trouble, though considering the daytime drowsiness you brought up, I would still not go too high with the dose.

What helps me is taking marijuana gummies no less than 30 minutes before going to sleep. I wake up feeling okay. You could begin with 5 mg THC, which is half a gummy, or adjust as you like.

Look for gummies or drinks containing roughly 5mg to 10mg of THC (Delta 8 or 9), also known as Indica, plus 5mg of CBN. If your smart watch monitors sleep, your restlessness score should show a big improvement. The gummies I use are called Knockout, made by Dodi. I also pick up the Stigma Sleep Tonic at Total Wine.

I have had terrible insomnia for years. This was well before starting Tirz, and is somewhat connected to my anxiety (which is under control with perscription meds). Things like melatonin, magnesium, etc., all make me drowsy mid-day, especially when taking them the night before. Perscription meds help me sleep, but same issue - I'm not alert the next day.

Is there a peptide that anyone likes that has worked for them? I've seen mixed reviews for Epitalon, DSIP, etc.

I've just begun taking sermorelin, since it's said to improve sleep. It's only been 2 weeks so far. If you'd like, I can report back on whether anything shifts.

Insomnia is awful. I haven't looked into peptides aimed at sleep problems in any focused way, since I'd rather not end up dependent on something. Even so, CJC-IPA appears to help me get to sleep fast. The options you listed are supposedly meant to tackle sleep problems. Wishing you the best.
To build on what I posted earlier in this thread: after taking a break from CJC-IPA for roughly 2 weeks, I used that window to start injecting Epitalon at night, right before turning in, and it has been putting me out fast and hard. Since I'm an older guy, I still wake up near 4 am to pee no matter what, but getting back to sleep afterward is no problem. I also swallow a magnesium glycinate tablet right before bed, though I honestly can't tell whether it does anything for my sleep either way.

I use antihistamines — Diphenhydramine hydrochloride to be exact — and they do the job nicely, though taking them as frequently as I currently do isn't something I should keep up. In most countries you can get it without a prescription, since it isn't truly habit-forming the way Xanax or sleeping pills are (that said, if you take it daily for months, the sedative effect eventually wears off).

For short-term needs or the occasional rough night, it's a solid option…but sadly, a couple of studies have linked very long-term use to Alzheimer's disease.

I'm sure this isn't news to you, but meditation and mindfulness combined with psychotherapy gave me the most lasting benefit.

What dose of epitalon do people use?

Wanna hear about my sleep struggles? Each night before lying down, my stack was: Taurine at 3000mg, Magnesium glycinate at 400mg, Melatonin at 100mg, Belsomra at 15mg, Lyrica at 300mg, a muscle relaxer, plus Tramadol at 50mg. Once I layered Epithalon nasal spray on top of everything, improvements finally showed up — but then I had to quit it cold because of a procedure scheduled for Wednesday. Restarting can't come soon enough, and this time I plan to add nasal DSIP into the mix as well. These days I'm managing 6-7 hours per night, which beats anything I've had in more than a year. My goal now is to slowly taper off most of these compounds and find out whether the peptides alone can carry the load. Having worked overnights for 35 years, I'm F'ing cooked.
That sounds exhausting — I'm really sorry you have to go through all of that just to get some rest. 35 years is a LOT. Here's hoping one of these peptides does the trick for you, so you can count on 6-7 hours . . . or even more!

My insomnia has been with me my whole life. Unlike some people who sleep poorly, mine isn't tied to anxiety or rumination. I'm simply awake — not fretting, not working through a problem, just conscious. I manage to read quite a bit ; )

Pharmaceuticals have brought me relief (hallelujah!). Getting the rx dialed in took plenty of time and a few different doctors, and now it's straightforward. Every single day I feel grateful, because being unable to sleep is genuinely miserable.

On top of that, they asked me to shift my working hours to cover shifts so they could dodge paying any OT. Not happening! I go out of my way to carry more than my fair share of the workload — that's not something I'll do, and it's not my building anyway. Sleep matters, and after I stopped a couple of things and cut doses on others, my sleep got worse. So it's back to the drawing board — and thank you.

Before bed each day, I was taking 2 mg. After 9 days (1 vial), I stopped and cycled off, since the guidance I found online appeared to point toward a 10 day cycle a few times per year. Whether epitalon was the sole factor at play I can't confirm, but at some point I will begin another cycle.

I go through stretches where sleep is a problem. Once I actually drift off, things are okay — it's the falling asleep that I struggle with. The only thing I've tried that has helped is quetiapine.

Thanks.

For years I've been using ambien on and off, and my sincere hope is that this will finally free me from that mind eraser.

It's great that you didn't let your sleep routine slide any further. Hope you manage to sort this out — best of luck!

This post really resonates with me. I've dealt with insomnia my whole life too, but once I added Reta it got significantly worse. My routine includes mag gly/l-theanine gummies plus a thc/cbd gummy before bed — falling asleep works fine, yet I wake up roughly 3 hrs later every single night and can't fall back asleep without a small dose of ambien (around ~2mg). I was never able to go above 4mg of Reta, and since I'm nearing my goal I'm now attempting to taper that down.

Some newer insomnia meds have come out, Quvivq being one, which are meant to improve sleep maintenance with less next-day grogginess, but because they're newly patented the cost is very high, so I haven't given them a try.
When Quvivq was first released, I gave it a try. The very first night brought on severe hallucinations and night terrors — it felt like a bad trip — so I never took it again.

After reading up on Ambien just now, I have to say — whoaaa, it really doesn't sound enjoyable in the least, and that goes double for the extended-release form. Zopiclone has been my sleep aid for decades. It kicks in fast and clears your system fairly fast too, so you don't wake up with a drug hangover — though dependence happens often, and memory problems are another possible side effect. Even so, compared with Ambien, it sounds like the better option.

It's interesting how many of us deal with insomnia. And weight problems too.

I've tried it all and nothing has worked for me — gummies, HRT, every peptide, even heading to bed completely exhausted. Still up again at 1 am. 3 am. 4 am. At times I'm awake for an hour or two straight.

I enjoy reading everyone's suggestions, and I hope someone comes across something that works which I haven't tried yet!

Good luck!

For some individuals, Epitalon and Pinealon are more effective when taken in the morning rather than before bed. You have to try and experiment.

I saw in a different thread that you're 45, which is right in the middle of the perimenopause window.

It's worth considering whether hormones could be behind this. If you aren't on HRT, it may be worth looking into.

To keep tolerance and effectiveness from building up, I used to rotate between Eszopiclone (Lunesta) and Zolpidem (Ambien) roughly every 9 months to a year. With eszopiclone I had the same adverse effects, yet it appeared to stop working sooner than Zolpidem did. My only wish is to eventually find a way that means I need neither of them. Short-term memory suffers with both. Even so, melatonin tablets affect me just as badly in that regard. Then again, going without sleep clearly carries its own harmful effects, so it's a catch-22. Maybe Epitalon will turn out to be the golden ticket. I'll find out soon what my lab rat thinks.
