Why didn't anybody tell me?

During the week, the less water I take in and the more caffeine I consume, the quicker I end up feeling hungry.
That's a really fascinating point. My coffee intake is huge, and this week — week 1 for me — 1mg just isn't doing what it did before. I'm wondering whether that's the reason, since starting yesterday the appetite suppression seems to be wearing off really fast.
My routine is normally Sunday right before I go to sleep. Today is thursday, and I have absolutely no hunger — not even the slightest urge to eat. What's frustrating me is that my weight refuses to budge, regardless of how consistently I hit the gym and how clean I keep my diet. Honestly, it's making me lose my mind. Lol
Based on my own experience back when I only used diet and exercise, no peptides at all, the thing that broke a plateau for me was switching up what I ate for about 1 or 2 weeks. I can't say whether that would help you or not, or whether it would do the same thing while using a peptide. I figure sooner or later I'll probably give it another shot while I'm on ret.

Honestly, I'm giving up on the idea of liking "healthier" food — it's full scorched-earth mode from here.

When posts like this come up, it would help to see each person's GLP-1 background. With Reta, reactions vary wildly, which isn't the case for Tirz or plain GLP-1. Once I reach my weight goal, I've thought about moving to Tirz, but now I worry that doing so could blunt Reta's effects if I later go back to it. Reta was the first GLP-1 drug I ever used, and hunger is almost nonexistent for me. Three months have passed without my stomach "growling," and the only way I manage to eat past a deficit is on the day right before my next shot.

that hunger can spike while titrating up? lol I moved from 2mg to 4mg today and I've eaten everything in the pantry. I'm running around the house after the damn cat with my last two slices of bread!
For me, this never made sense since my injections were always at bedtime. But now I get why people do it in the morning. During those first 12 hours, while the shot is settling in, it hasn't really "kicked in" yet. Short version: I'm switching back to dosing at night.
Perhaps I'll give that a shot. My injections were in the morning, and wow, the hunger was unreal

About 6 months back, I spent 1 month on tirz. With Reta I've been incredibly hungry, though I'm only in week 2, so perhaps it just needs time to settle.

What dose are you currently taking?

My standard advice is to stay at a given dose for 4 weeks so it can accumulate in your body. That's only my own approach, mind you—and it mirrors what Lilly did during the trials.

I've stayed at or below 1.5 mg per week, and a few weeks back I cut down to .75. Food noise was never a problem for me from the start, so it's not something I deal with- 🫡

It looks like Reta hits everyone in wildly different ways. That's about the only thing that stays the same.

Roughly 6 months in now, began at .5mg and currently at 2.4mg (split into 1.2mg doses twice weekly), with 30 lbs gone.

Around 2 months in, we switched to a twice-a-week schedule because we realized that during the final 2-3 days of each week, eating no longer felt like something we had to push ourselves through. 😆 In hindsight, I'd guess that was our metabolisms starting to adjust to the calorie deficit?

These days there's still some appetite suppression in the sense that we're able to eat, just not in the same quantities. A bit of hunger is normal and fine, but reta continues to help bring the noise down to a manageable level. Everyone responds differently, no 2 bodies are alike, and reta might not be the peptide that suits you. Some people who need stronger appetite suppression get better results with tirzepatide, so you have to work out what fits you. Best of luck to you and the cat. 😆

GLP's are a completely new territory for me too. My first 4 weeks were at 2mg, and on the same day as this post I moved up to 4mg.

Something I've picked up on while using Reta: the food noise mostly shows up only when I'm genuinely hungry, and it feels weaker if I'm drinking plenty of water. It's a kind of healthy food noise — I'm planning my next meal, but I'm not ravenous or grabbing food without thinking. That said, once I begin a meal I can still put away around 70% of my old portion (my eyes are way bigger than my stomach).

I've always eaten far too quickly, so now I make myself pause briefly during meals. On Reta that's a lot simpler, and 10-15 minutes in I'm noticeably fuller. Before Reta, I'd reliably keep shoveling food and snacks in after I'd already had some. On Reta, I'm managing much better at not returning to them a few minutes later. The last time a sweet craving hit, I chose a peach over candy and it did the trick. I think it's amazing that I can still get cravings, deal with them, and have the self-control not to go overboard. It feels like trading an old bike for a new e-bike.
Yeah, my appetite suppression works much the same way. Eating is still possible for me, but junk food just doesn't call to me anymore. On Memorial Day I cooked ribs, and I really wanted them — until a sweet store-bought bbq sauce got slathered on. Once I registered that the sauce wasn't healthy, it killed the appeal entirely. There was also a habit I had of picking up Chic Fil A or McDonald's on the drive home from work, eating it before I walked in, so I wouldn't have to explain to my kids why they got nothing (No judgment, any parent has pulled that move). That habit is gone too. Last night, though, the whole family went to chic fil a and I ordered the cool wrap with apple cider vinegar dressing. On Reta, it tasted like an Outlaw Ribeye from Longhorn.
Should you ever get a craving for BBQ sauce again and prefer not to feel bad about it, Stubs makes a sugar free sweet and spicy version. It slaps.
