Tirzepatide plateau: has anyone switched to retatrutide and dropped a lot of weight?

I've been using Mounjaro/tirzepatide for almost 10 months now. So far I've lost 60lbs, but the scale hasn't moved for the past few months. I'm hoping reta will get things going again.

Still, I have 100lbs left to lose, which worries me (when I began Mounjaro I weighed 339.3lbs).

Has anyone else been stuck on a high dose of tirz and then moved over to reta with success, losing a ton of weight?

Hey, what's your current dose, and how long has the stall been going on?

Right now I'm taking 12.5mg and the scale hasn't budged for close to 2 months. My order from JEEP should show up this week, so with any luck I'll begin reta then.

Feel free to explore the forum.

I haven't been at this as long as you have. My Tirz dose reached 5mg each week, and I've been transitioning over to Reta at a pretty fast pace, losing roughly ~1% of my starting weight every week.

Honestly, tirz gave me a couple of stalls too — one of them dragged on for roughly 7 or 8 weeks.

That kind of thing just happens.

I kept going, bumped the dose up, and in the end I hit my goal weight on 15mg.

I began at 330 and am at 252 now. It has been 5 months and a bit. Every week I fast until the scale shows 1 or 2 pounds less; I am fasting at the moment. My dose is 7mg tirz and 5mg reta, taken as split doses.

How are you ramping up your dose? I still have a single 12.5mg pen, and my plan was to run 2mg for 2 weeks plus 4mg for 2 weeks alongside that final pen, then once it's gone, switch to 6mg of reta on its own and see what happens.

From what I've read, people coming off larger Tirzepatide doses tend to get weak appetite suppression until they hit roughly the 8mg point. Fingers crossed that by then my body settles into a rhythm.

My routine is 7mg injected Friday morning, then 5 mg reta Monday morning. Ever since I started combining the two, the pounds have been shedding fast, and I haven't had to increase my dose for a while.

What I'm using is exactly the same dose as yours. The difference is I stack it with tirz and reta.

It's rough that you're dealing with food noise. On my current amounts of each, I basically never feel hungry, so I'm sorry the lower doses aren't doing it for you. You should absolutely dose at whatever level works for you; cagri plus reta also gets mentioned a lot for shutting down appetite.

Reta at 8mg is da bomb for me! Nothing has suppressed my appetite quite like it.

10mg of tirz came first, split dosing, so 5mg a shot. That held up fine until the anhedonia arrived.

At the moment the stack is 2mg Cagri and 8mg Reta — Cagri Monday, Reta Thursday. Working really well so far, with a steady 1-1.5kg coming off per week. Cagri is getting swapped for Sema, partly because it's cheaper, and partly because Cagri turned out less strong than people made it sound.

My Tirz concentration sat near 4.9mg on 1/10.

1/10: Reta 1mg

1/11: Reta 1mg

1/12: Reta 1mg

1/14: Tirz 2.5mg (the usual 2x weekly amount, taken 1 day behind schedule), which quieted food noise

1/15: Reta 2mg

1/16: Reta 1mg

1/17: Reta 1mg

1/18: Reta 1mg

Right now the levels are Tirz 2.7mg and 5.3mg. My weight has gone from 272lb down to 266-267lb. I introduced 360mg magnesium glycinate and cut my PHGG fiber supplement from 21g to 7mg. The sole side effect worth noting and tied to Reta is greater sensitivity to cold, which so far does not bother me.

Across that stretch my heart rate variability has moved from flat to slightly higher, and resting heart rate is 5bpm lower when comparing the 6 months before 1/10 with the period since.

At the moment I'm skiing, paying attention to appetite (flat right now), food noise (also flat) and any significant sides. If nothing changes, in about 51 hours I'll take another 3mg of Reta, which puts my peak at 5.8mg, while my Tirz level at that peak should be roughly 2.1mg (assuming 24 hour absorption to peak). After that I go back to following the slope and seeing what I notice.

How old are you, how tall, what was your weight when you started, and what is it now?

It's worth testing out, but avoid falling into the trap of taking every kind of drug. At the start, just keep to the weekly dose of a single weight loss peptide. I wouldn't combine different ones or do micro dosing while chasing something that doesn't exist.

Not long ago I went from tirzapatide to retatrutide cold turkey and it does seem to burn more fat and I have noticable increased energy

Hmm, perhaps that's worth considering. Since I've come across conflicting views about stacking glp1's, my goal was to steer clear of long-term use.

Still, the possibility of hitting a stall on reta—given that I'm already on high-dose mounjaro—worries me, and from what I've seen in various threads, that seems to happen often.

Basically, either this approach pans out or weight loss surgery becomes my only option.

There's no need to worry about exceeding the usual dose—high-dose studies are currently underway, such as 8mg for Sema and 25mg for Tirz. In my view, glp1 is far safer than we previously believed. As for weight loss surgery, I take it you mean gastric bypass; that carries much, much greater risk. I've come across plenty of horror stories about it, and in my opinion it ought to be the last option.

I've come across plenty of positive feedback on cagri, and I actually picked some up together with my reta, keeping it on hand in case I need a fallback.

That said, once I started digging through discussions here about fibrils, oligomers, and similar topics, it put me off entirely.

Yesterday, around this same time, hunger returned—not food noise—and while it wasn't extreme, it was noticeable. I had a brownie because I needed carbs, and that kept the hunger away for a few hours before it came back. This mirrors what happened the week before.

So yesterday I dosed 2.5mg of Reta along with 2mg of Tirz. That brings my Reta peak to 5.7mg, which is 0.3mg higher than my last peak on 1/19, and my Tirz peak to 3.6mg, which is 1mg lower than my previous peak on 1/15.

Hearing that doesn't exactly fill me with confidence — dementia and possible organ damage aren't things I'm looking to sign up for.

Uhhhh, so why are you hanging around a research chem site then? You realize all this stuff gets cooked up in a tub next to the neighborhood Chinese brothel, yeah?

Yes, though each person's risk tolerance differs. Even in the grey market, products do get tested (to a reasonable extent), and this community is fairly solid, plus the safety profile for reta and Glp1's broadly is quite established.

Honestly, if reta doesn't pan out, I'll likely accept the risk and later add cagrilintide, but right now I'm not 100% at ease with that risk yet.

Cag cuts how much you eat by boosting fullness signals, so portions get smaller.

With the 2 GLP agonists you're on right now, isn't your hunger already suppressed in a practical sense?

What reta brings is glucagon signaling, and that can push your base metabolic rate up by roughly 5-10%, giving you something you currently lack.

Do you log what you eat?

Do you work out, and do you log that too?

Simply cutting food can trigger metabolic adaptation, which lowers your base rate and brings on a stall.
