That Unwanted Oops Notification

The sheer volume of completely garbage guidance coming from newcomers is what's making me crazy, and it's been piling up big time recently. Whether folks sign up and repeat the same old questions doesn't bother me at all, but the awful advice is ridiculous. Individuals who've been around for just 2 days are dishing out misinformation. A chunk of it is downright horrific. I notice a similar pattern on the site where I serve as an Admin/mod. I'm fairly convinced it's tied to the rising popularity of Reta and Tirz. Yes, I only became a member in Feb, but I spent months reading about Reta on Lilly and through various sources. I began reading here in December sometime prior to registering. After I registered, I soaked everything up like a sponge. I don't remember spraying out wisdom and guidance. Perhaps it's just me.

That's my tiny rant, and I feel better now.

I just got here not long ago, and from what I gathered about the newbie welcome section, people who are new are supposed to hang around for some time, and the sole subjects allowed there are WELCOME ABOARD-type things. Stuff such as your reason for signing up, a small amount about who you are, just extremely simple getting-to-know-you chat. Asking questions is not allowed! That's stated at signup. Perhaps the problem was that you posed questions. It plainly tells you not to.

To be truthful, the No Source Discussion is the only one that comes to mind. I'd have to revisit things to jog my memory.

Back when I had just begun posting, I noticed that too, so I leaned on instincts from the old days of the internet. When a term means nothing to you, the move is to stay quiet about it — either work it out on your own or just let it fade. That's exactly why I'm keeping my mouth shut on this subject as well: I genuinely have no clue what's happening here.

Yep! A handful of angry messages got drafted and then tossed, all about how badly they handle mixing things up. They had no clue a vial might carry 30% extra or turn out to have no peptide at all. They had no clue what was in the bac water they bought, yet everything seemed fine to them.

That answer really helps. Could you point out which rules my 2 questions violated? I’d appreciate the clarification.

I requested definitions for John and Joes along with data mining, and I don't see any request for links

I honestly didn't read your post closely. My inbox is flooded with people asking me to share GB links with members—they're looking for freebies instead of putting in the effort. That's probably because I've talked about everything I purchase through GB.

Thanks so much for sharing your purchases. Because of that, I got curious and tracked them down. It's not complicated. You just head into vendor discords/tgs, ask questions, and take it from there. I'm not sure. At this point I can't really recall how I came across everything.

As you're aware, I steer clear of links. It's not a difficult thing to do, yet my inbox keeps filling up with newcomers asking for freebies and GB invitations. A handful of us—yourself included among the veteran crowd—do pass some along. Being "accepted," I suppose, feels like a stroke of luck. What wears on me is the endless stream of newbs expecting to be spoon feed. This image gets plenty of use from me as a quiet nod to exactly that.

No problem at all, Bubba — you haven't bothered me one bit. The ones who just joined are the issue. What @indolent described is only one piece of it.

I wish the subject of having to flag AI-generated material came up between us more regularly — the requirement laid out in section 1H of the Forum Rules:

"H. AI CONTENT: Any content created, enhanced, or otherwise manipulated or modified by AI must be disclosed clearly above such content. Posting content entirely created by AI is discouraged. This disclosure is not required if AI is used solely to translate a post (or any part of a post) to/from a different language"

Way too many folks present lengthy, elaborately formatted walls of text — bullet points and all — as though they wrote them themselves. Nonsense! In my view, we ought to challenge them about it far more frequently.
