Reta reducing sleep duration (dropped from 7 to 5-6 hours) — how did you fix it?

Currently on 5mg tirz, and for the past 2 weeks I've been adding 0.5mg of reta midweek. The last few nights have been rough — I wake up between 2-4am with a pounding heart and a headache. I suspect it's glucose related, since that sometimes hits me midday as well. With tirz alone I never had any issues. I'm also running GLOW, NAD+ and Selank, but I believe reta is the culprit. Hoping things level out next week; I'll stay at 0.5 until it resolves. Will keep you posted.
Once I got past week 3, things leveled out for me. That said, any day where my carbs come in on the lower side turns into a disaster. I've come to understand that getting sufficient carbs to support my training sessions and my sleep matters far more than I gave it credit for at the beginning.
I'd rather not use up reta while it's still working, so my plan is to pause it and bring it back once tirz stops doing the job — that could be months away, probably quite a few. On top of that, each one calls for a different way of eating: reta calls for more carbs compared with tirz, so running both at once might not go well.

3 months into reta and I'm still waking at 2, 4, and 6 am

yet my iwatch reports a sleep score of 95 ...

BUT THE RESULTS ARE REAL — JACKED AND SLIM

every second of it is worth it

For a long while I ran 2.5mg Tirz alongside 2mg Reta. Then strong sugar cravings kicked in, plus hunger got more intense and satiety dropped off. So I bumped Reta to 4mg using split doses spaced a few days apart, and Tirz is now at 4mg too. That leaves me at 4 and 4 weekly for each. My resting heart rate climbed from the mid 60s into the high 70s (around 78), and sleep has become TOUGH. Nothing else in terms of sides, and otherwise I feel better. Still, 5-6 hours per night is not gonna cut it. Fingers crossed I adjust soon.

Consider having slow-digesting carbohydrates prior to sleep

since my first reta dose (0.5mg on sunday), sleep has been an issue.

if that makes any sense, i'd describe the feeling as 'alert'.

annoying, since other than that, there are barely any upsides so far.
Is .5mg really the dose that's disrupting your sleep? That doesn't add up to me. For me, things were fine until I reached 6mg, and at 8mg it's gotten even worse.

What led you to begin at .5mg? Have you gone through any of the E Lilly trial studies?

Many of us begin at a really low dose.

We're not obese — just aiming to shed some stubborn pounds as we get older.

Honestly, that's my strategy too 🤣 the cravings are beginning to show up, but I still fill up fast, so it's at least doing its job. Just finished week 4 and I'm aiming to remain at 2mg for as long as I can!!!!

carbs definitely play a role. i tested it by going on and off for a few days, and on both nights where i had carbs before bed i got at least 6 hours, while the night i skipped them, which was 2 nights ago, i only got 3.5 hours!

Thanks for the useful advice! Sleeping on an empty stomach has always been my preference, and in this case it looks like that habit is probably what's hurting me. I'll come back with an update. Thanks once more!

Hang in there and let your body adjust. Around weeks 4-6, my sleep returned to how it was before. Epithalon made a huge difference for me at night. Try picking up casein powder, or have yogurt or low-calorie string cheese as a bedtime snack — these digest slowly, which stops you from waking mid-sleep. Whenever the dose goes up, sleep can get thrown off again.

Edit: One more thing I left out — you also need to work out during the day so you're physically tired. Combining that with a nighttime protein source should make a big difference.

Lean yet unable to sleep. The glucagon agonism of Reta appears to boost sympathetic activity, and the lousy sleep follows right along with it. Dropping off is fast for me, but past 3 AM I'm turning over constantly. It wears me out. Things were fine up until roughly 3 or 4 mg. Dayvigo 5 mg each night made it better, yet at 6 mg even that has stopped working. That dose is my maintenance level, and there's no reason to raise it for weight or metabolic purposes. So my hope is strong that within a couple of months my body will adjust to this dose and begin to settle down again. If that doesn't happen, I'll drop back to 5 mg and possibly add a mg or two of Tirz alongside.

Bad sleep is the sole side effect I've had to face. Throughout this entire stretch I've been 100% clear of any GI issues. Magical pep. A mixed blessing.

After another 3-4 weeks, my sleep has settled into a fairly consistent pattern. The reta's side effects have also eased up quite a bit.

These days I get no sides at all, yet my sleep is still garbage. I began on 6mg and I'm currently on 9mg. Magnesium made no difference for me. A buddy suggested something, so I gave it a shot. The first night it barely did anything. Then I paired it with a magnesium pill and boom, that combo works. Sunday night was when I began. Yesterday I hit the sack at 8:30 — yeah, I know, that's early. It comes from spending years behind the wheel of a semi, plus my previous job, 25 years of getting up at 5. Anyway, I got up twice (10pm and 1am) to pee, had a bit of tossing and turning, but finally rose at 5. My guess is it improves once you've been on it a while, and that's how it seems. It isn't a pill — it's a patch. We'll see how it goes.

I should probably have said earlier that I swallow a magnesium glycinate tablet just before turning in, and when my calorie intake is really low I make a point of having some sour dough. During those opening weeks I suspect I had cut carbs far too much, which surely made things worse. The schedule was 2mg for 6 weeks, then 3 weeks at 3mg, and this was my first time dosing 2mg twice weekly — no genuine sides, which caught me off guard. What I have noticed at this dose is a wild amount of sweating plus feeling wiped out during gym sessions, which is curious.

During the first stretch, sleep was fine, but once week 3 arrived, the amount of sleep I get has clearly dropped. Short of adding more peptides, I've given everything a shot:

- going to bed sooner

- no food after 6

- keeping the phone out of the bedroom

Magnesium makes falling asleep happen very fast, yet the problem now is remaining asleep. I'm wondering whether anyone else experienced this and managed to resolve it without extra medication, or whether it eventually stops at some stage?

About to start week 4, on 1mg twice a week from the very beginning.
Retatrutide was great, but my resting heart rate rose a lot and my sleep got worse, so I just moved over to Tirzepatide - no more problems.

I'm holding out for my shipment so I can give this a shot for a while

I stopped following my CJC rule about avoiding food before sleep, and instead had carbs just before hitting the sack

Passed out like an infant

My guess is that frequently we don’t sense hunger, yet our system wakes us because it needs fuel
Multiple people have mentioned this same thing. A bedtime carb snack had them sleeping great. Jotting this down since my R3ta run starts soon

I'd like to know which carbs people have before bed — basically, what's on your plate at night?

I haven't actually, i keep debating it. I have all this Reta so a little annoying to switch it up but i don't know how much longer i can handle this lack of sleep.

On your days off or weekends, can you make up for lost sleep? What about taking naps?

For me, it was Smartfood popcorn, a protein bar, or a Fairlife protein drink.
