Not a drill: 5 pounds from minimum goal

Way to go on arriving at a point where the scale tips in your favor permanently. 😎

Now you've got zero reason to put off building a fresh closet that's far more fashionable. 🙂

How do you intend to hold the line once you're there?

According to 'studies', it looks like roughly 18 months in, GLP-1s tend to produce extremely sluggish further loss from that point.

Does that mean staying at the same dose is how you keep a weight steady?

Or do you figure on easing it back somewhat?

I've put in time hunting for people who've shed pounds, both here and over on the Reddit channels, and hardly anyone seems to have a strategy or even a notion about what could pan out and what won't.

Those who do usually land on 'I'll work out heavily and taper my dose gradually until it's zero', nothing more...at least on Reddit.

IMHO I doubt that pans out, GLP-1s are required to fix an imbalance that has wrecked metabolic pathways. Take away that fix and regaining the weight becomes unavoidable.

There's another snag too: what do hunger cues even look like for someone on GLP-1?

Meaning, getting the calories required to hold energy steady, before drawing on fat reserves, was simple while heavy, but now that those huge fat reserves are gone, keeping things steady seems tougher.

Do you have steady energy for the stuff you enjoy doing?

Hitting empty in the middle of a pleasant walk is annoying...not sleepy, not muscles fatigued, just lacking the energy to move, all shaky.

BTW it is NOT about protein levels, it's something else...keep up the protein, but for adding muscle mass, what more is required to boost the 'I can do things now since I'm not dragging around 50 extra pounds' while avoiding the no-energy issue?

For some time now I've been throwing around ideas, hunting for answers...any insight you've got would be fantastic.

Once more, congrats on reaching your ideal weight.

I hope you keep posting, reading what you write brightens my day...very spicy. 🙂

My clothes have followed the exact same path as my body. Whenever I shopped, I'd pick up items that fit at that moment, plus at least 1 piece that was only a LITTLE too tight. Thredup and Poshmark were my main sources, but a week or 2 back I also got a brand new yellow dress that looked stunning and cost me just twenty dollars. Definitely worth it.

My view is that whatever dose brought you to this point is the dose that keeps you here, so 12.5 mg looks like it'll be my maintenance amount. The entire time, I've never tracked calories, aside from doing a fast mental tally per meal when I had the numbers, which was frequently, and I aim to follow "no sweets, no snacks, no second helpings unless I'm out with friends, and even then, try not to go nuts."

I doubt that "not losing any more weight" will be even slightly hard; I plateaued from mid December to march since I wasn't putting in much effort, and I only resumed losing once I began trying again. I figure "eat right but don't try too hard" will work fine as maintenance.

Incredible!!! You ought to feel extremely proud of yourself!!!!!
What I feel most is gratitude. I desperately wanted to be attractive (to be clear, I'm not claiming heavy people can't be—only that I personally never pulled it off), and within my own lifetime science found a fix for being heavy, and it happened while I was JUST young enough to still get pleasure from being hot the way I'd always hoped.

Even so, I'm 45, and at 67 my mom still looks good, so maybe I've got more time to savor it than I assumed.

Great! I get a lot out of many of your posts. Happy that you're sticking around with us.

On the topic of feeling hot while you're still "young enough to enjoy it" — where exactly is that age limit? 🤣🤣🤣

One thing I've genuinely appreciated about getting older: I keep assuming the good stuff will stop at some age, and then I reach that age and think, "well, I'll be damned, it didn't stop, I was worried for nothing!"

Hitting the same situation as a big birthday gets close, and honestly it feels way earlier than it should. Somewhere along the line, time must have skipped ahead.

On my thirtieth birthday, I took off for a couple of weeks. A Honda Shadow got packed with camping gear, and I headed to Mammoth Caves. During that trip I spent 5 days at the campgrounds alongside a French man who either knew no English or was faking it — either way, I was fine with it. When I got back, I felt far less worked up about being in my thirties with nothing of significance to show for my life.

For forty, I marked my Ascension — the point where I could formally and ceremonially stop giving even 1 single solitary fuck about whatever people expected of me at any given point.

At fifty, 5 years from now, my plan is to celebrate being happy, hopefully still healthy, feeling like I look good, having a life that is exactly what I wanted it to be, and having occasional romance while NOT being beholden to men and gender-assigned labor of all kinds that uses up my energy and my zest and leaves me disappointed and sad. I'm gonna be kinda quiet about that, though, because most women of my generation are still doing an awful lot of work for some guy, and its snide to trumpet how I'm not.

Love it❤️ every bit of it.

Shout it to all the women: if a man doesn’t make your life easier and more enjoyable, he ain’t shit!👸🏼 you are the prize.

Wild rides! It only comes across as snide when you refuse to respect that other women pick a life that isn't the same as yours. From where they stand, he might not be "some guy" at all.

There's always going to be somebody out there with an opinion on something they have no clue about. If every judgey remark about my marriage put a dollar in my pocket... I stick with what works for me and let everyone else stick with what works for them.

Celebrate with abandon!

Today the scale read 126 lbs. I find myself staring at my thigh gap for far longer than I should, since it doesn't feel real. The sizes on my clothes don't feel real either. There are strange bones in strange spots. I keep thinking about buying a full length mirror, and then I tell myself off: "That is unlikely to build character, randompersonrandom. You can look at yourself in the ones in the gym if you want to see it so bad." Every conversation opens with "YOU ARE SO SKINNY". To myself I still look fat, but I KNOW it's in my head and don't concern myself with it.

My no-lower-than-this is 121, and I'm on track to get there in the next month. And then I'm like....done trying to get more off.

I'll celebrate with one of those big Costco blueberry muffins as a joke with a family that kinda adopted me down here. (I was 186 pounds a couple of years back, eating one of those and lamenting that I couldn't afford ozempic. One of the women in that family said, deadpan, "If you're obese and have an associated comorbidity, sometimes insurance will pay for it. (Pause.) Have another muffin.") But my regular losing-weight food is very good, and I go to the gym because it's pleasant to exercise when you're not overweight, which nobody told me, so that won't be hard to keep doing.

I have no experience whatsoever at "not needing to lose weight right now." I have always been either actively working to lose weight, or gaining weight while stressing over the fact that I need to get hold of myself.

This will be my first time where when I get on the scale, it will be with the hope that it says what it said yesterday, last week, last month. This will be the most surreal experience.
Way to go!! You crushed it! 🎉😁 Looking forward to having you around 😍

Let me make this crystal clear—I am NOT saying that all marriages consist of a woman pouring every ounce of herself into some guy who just assumes she'll serve him. A lot of them don't work that way. But they happen often enough among Gen X and older that at my age, I feel fortunate not to be stuck in one, since the odds were stacked against me there.

Nice work, Rando!

One day we'll be able to say we were here before it all happened. . . .

Treat yourself to a new guitar, some strings, or an amp to mark the occasion. (take my word for it 😁)

I'm really craving a Shelton tongue drum in D-minor. If my August eye procedure weren't already in the budget, that instrument would definitely be my final prize. 😂

Congratulations!

... Oh, and yes—go ahead and get that full-length mirror! Not because of vanity, but for realism's sake. I can say from experience that seeing my body on a regular basis helped my brain catch up with my actual body size. After a while it does sink in, though you barely notice it at first.

(I really became aware of this when I regained last time, back in my pre-glp1-times, and realized how accustomed I had grown to looking slimmer. But that's another story.)

Nice going, random! I'm on the verge of dropping under 200 at this point! Only 30 lbs left before I hit the "healthy bmi range" LOL

That milestone everyone hopes for — and when it finally arrives, it barely feels real! 🎉 👏🏼 I dropped 95 pounds one time in the past, and right now I'm in the middle of my 2nd big weight-loss journey (70 down, 20lbs still to go), so my turn is approaching fast, and so is everyone else's here 🫡

How did I not see this earlier?! Congratulations!

Once you reach a particular size after what feels like an endless cycle of dieting, gaining it back, and dieting again, "surreal" really is the right word for it. You put in the work and you made it happen!

The other day I dug out a size 6, and I couldn't believe it actually fit...I assumed it had to be one of those vanity sizes, so I tried other brands on, and it was still size 6...being the same size I was back in the military feels strange.
