Hey everyone

Starting weight was 150kg, and I'm currently at 104kg

I'm 185cm tall

The situation: I've been running retatrutide at 10mg

The issue: I live in a 3rd world country, so the cost is becoming a bit much for me, and on top of that the hunger suppression from Reta just isn't cutting it

On Reta I get no side effects, or practically none.

I'm considering bringing Tirz into the mix

what would you suggest?

I'm leaning toward

5mg reta plus 5mg tirz

because 5mg of reta should be sufficient for glucagon activation

what would you guys suggest? For the tirz, should I go with a higher dose or a lower one?

Thanks in advance

Everything hinges on whether your current doses are doing the job for you.

What's your history with reta — how long have you been running it? From the sound of it, your results have been solid up to now.

Swapping 5mg reta straight across for 5mg tirz is not something I'd do right away.

Since you already know how reta treats you, a gradual crossover with dose tweaks every few weeks could get you to a stack that delivers what you're after.

Another route: keep your reta dose as is and just layer in a small amount of tirz for extra hunger suppression.

Which way works is something only you can judge — there's no one-size-fits-all protocol.

Sounds like saving money and getting stronger appetite suppression are the 2 things you're after? Tirz costs less and handles those goals better. That said, I'd make the change gradually. For example, 9mg reta plus 1mg tirz for a few weeks, then 8mg reta plus 2mg tirz for a few weeks. At that piont, if appetite suppression is enough, 7mg reta plus 2mg tirz for a few weeks. Tapering down reta could go quicker than ramping up tirz. While you're reducing reta, don't just raise tirz on autopilot, only raise tirz if you need more appetite supression.

If 10 of reta isn't causing you any problems, my approach would likely be to take 2.5 tirz 4-5 days following reta, then on the day you'd usually take your reta shot, check in with how you feel and decide if staying at 10 makes sense or if dropping it by a mg or 2 is better, and continue adjusting upward and/or downward from that point

If your starting point was 150 kg and the scale now reads 104 kg, that is a tremendous accomplishment already.

A lot of folks in this space push their dose upward to the point where the body is no longer getting the nutrition it truly requires to function.

What tends to happen next is that the body goes into emergency mode and holds on tightly to whatever reserves remain. Considering how much weight you have already dropped, my suggestion would be to let your body rest for a while—using just a maintenance dose and eating slightly more, without putting the weight back on. Then, after 2–3 months, you could raise the dosage once more by adding 2 mg of Trizepatide to your maintenance dose every three days.

That said, I am not a doctor; I am only passing along what I have noticed myself after 50 years of dieting and yo-yo effects.

Great work!! Back in May I weighed 151kg, and lately I've been sitting around 135-137kg. Imagining myself under 120kg honestly seems like a fantasy, given that I've spent close to 30 years above 130kg...

Dropping 15-16 kg over roughly 4 months is genuinely impressive. Sure, you might hit a plateau or two along the way, but 130 kg is within reach... which means that 30 year albatross will finally be behind you. Then it's on to 125. And after that, 120!! This is absolutely doable for you.

I made the change to tirzepatide for a couple of reasons: it gives me

stronger appetite suppression and it costs less. I've dropped 50lbs and the food noise is still being kept in check.

Don't stop now. You're doing awesome!

Given that you're at 10mg, my take is that any Tirz dose under 2.5mg would just be wasted money.

If it were me, I'd begin with 2.5mg of Tirz alongside 8mg of Reta. The hunger control from Tirz is really impressive. I'd stick with that combo for a solid 4 weeks to gauge the response, then increase the Tirz while reducing the Reta.

Dropping Reta entirely isn't something I'd do—it brings too many advantages. The least I'd go down to is 4mg.

Best of luck with it, and congratulations on your progress so far!

Really appreciate the reply!

Given that I have 5 vials of 50mg each, that approach sounds like a solid plan, and it would likely last me around 4 months.

As several people suggested, I'm leaning toward tapering reta down while raising tirz.

Thanks for the suggestion! yeah the cost is becoming a real burden for me! I'll pick up a second job so I can manage it again in 5months lols

Hey, appreciate the guidance — I've been using it since 2025 11december.

My approach was to shed the weight as gradually as I could, so that loose skin and hormone issues wouldn't become a problem.

My eating is fairly normal; I don't undereat, since I'm building muscle at the same time as I'm dropping fat, so getting to 90kg and then taking a month or two off should be okay I think.

I really do value your insight! it's genuinely interesting.

hey men, there were plenty of times I quit, but I always came back to it!

BACK TO THE TRACK! BACK TO THE TRACK! BACK TO THE TRACK!

I have faith in you, that you're able to do it, Never give up on your Goals.

Thanks To be honest, going under 5mg isn't something I'm planning!

The 10mg dose is just not affordable for me, since my vials are 50mg and I inject every 5 days.

5mg will stretch a lot further, and I picked up 60mg tirz vials, so I'll be chilling

When the reta is gone I'll definitely reorder it, I just want it to last longer!

Honestly I will do this

first 4 weeks: reta 8mg tirz 4mg

I'll watch the supression, how I feel, and after that decide whether to hold, drop or raise the dosage.

if 4mg tirz gives me good supression, then next month I'll simply take reta down to 6mg and bring tirz up to 8mg, and see what happens again

What Im looking for 3rd month is

5mg reta and whatever amount tirz I will need

I hope I don't die lol

I wonder if keeping reta in is even worth it, since combining these two doesn't look like a good idea

I'll just say up front that overall, none of this qualifies as sound advice or has scientific backing. Since we don't know how long those 46kg took to come off, there's no way to judge whether the pace of loss was reasonable, too quick or extremely slow. That also means we can't know anything about his eating habits across that period. I'm not aiming this at him personally, I simply don't agree with the idea of taking breaks and believe it complicates things, undermining the momentum and the gradual sense of progress that comes from steadier, continuous loss.

With weight loss, energy expenditure does fall, but that shift happens gradually across many months and won't swing quickly just because calorie intake rises. (past the 10-20% range of diet induced thermogenesis) There's essentially no research backing the notion of pausing glp drugs, whether quitting them completely or dropping to lower doses, and there are solid grounds to think that full breaks with weight coming back could potentially lead to issues. From my own experience, energy expenditure fell as I went from 145 kg down to 75 kg, then held steady at 1600-1900 kcal/day from then on, for roughly the following 3 1/2 years.

GLP drugs are designed so doses are titrated up gradually to keep side effects manageable, which doesn't really fit with taking breaks, since you'd have to climb the doses back up slowly from the start.

The OP's plan of moving from 10 of reta to 5mg of reta plus 5 of tirz is likely fine, though the tirz dose would need to exceed 5 mg to equal what 10mg of reta does, since reta is somewhat stronger than tirz per mg. So closer to 5 mg of reta with about 7.5 of tirz. Even at doses 1.25 times higher than reta, tirz remains notably cheaper, around half the cost, which makes it a sensible option for that reason. Still, switching gradually by adding 1.5 mg of tirz while cutting 1 mg of reta at a time, as suggested above, is logical.

No idea what the goal is, 70kg? 80kg? If it's 80kg, then going from 150kg to 80 is a 44% drop, which is above average for max doses of reta or tirz, so longer term you might require higher doses or combinations of GLP drugs to reach it, perhaps 15mg tirz plus 5 of reta, or 20mg of tirz, or adding low dose cagri instead. But one step at a time: switch slowly to tirz to save money first, then once weight loss stalls at 15mg of tirz, figure out the next move from there.

Appreciate you taking the time!

Right now I'm at 101 kg, which means I've dropped 49kg so far.

I began reta on 11dec 2025, and up to now I've been aiming to shed weight gradually and properly, so that I wouldn't trigger excessive muscle loss or end up feeling weak.

On top of that, I wanted to avoid loose skin, so that's the reason.

Yes, my current goal weight target is 80KG!

At the moment I'm taking 10mg Reta, and the appetite suppression is quite decent, I'd say, provided I drink enough water.

What would you suggest — should I go with 5mg reta plus 7.5mg tirz, or should I transition off reta gradually while raising the tirz dose? For example 8mg reta 4tirz, 6mg reta 8tirz, and a final dose of 5mg reta and 8-15 tirz?

I'm not after extreme suppression, the kind where you simply can't eat — I'd be satisfied if I can just keep the urge to eat under control.

Thanks ahead of time!

Switching over by slowly raising the tirz while lowering the reta is likely the simpler route. That said, jumping directly to 5 of reta plus 5 of tirz would be very unlikely to cause issues, and after confirming things were fine at 5mg, you could then raise the tirz.
