Injecting every 5 days instead of weekly?

Seems like you've settled on an approach. Plenty of folks inject twice weekly, or on some schedule that isn't 7 days, and they don't run into problems. My take is that sticking to a 7 day schedule has more to do with keeping patients consistent with their meds than with anything happening at the receptor level.
I figure this is the real reason: prescribers find it simplest to instruct patients to inject once a week, always on the same day. Medication adherence among the general public is already laughably poor even when the directions are dead simple, so I can only picture the mess if large numbers of people were told to dose on some odd-numbered day schedule. Prescribers would rather protect themselves lol

Medication adherence has been shockingly poor for decades, and that's just how it is. The WHO, back in the early 2000s, labeled medication non-adherence a worldwide health problem. Across most studies, the combined non-compliance figure sits at roughly 50% — half of patients don't follow their prescribed regimen. Extra hospital admissions drive costs of 100s of billions each year for healthcare systems globally.

Shots on a 5-day cycle — ideally there's some app to handle that 😂. For me it wouldn't work, simply because I'm on the road so often and I'm not in the same spot every 5 days.
In 2 weeks I've got a 6 day trip lined up, and I'm already a bit on edge about needing to shoot the whole dose at once and possibly ruining the first 2 days.

Still, for my July trip to Spain — 2 weeks, 4 different places to stay — I believe I've come up with a workaround:

My plan is to buy a 5mg Reta kit plus 3ml BAC's, then reconstitute them so they're ready to use right away. Cheapest option? No. But paying a little extra to stay consistent and keep my peace of mind is worth it.

Everything else in my pep stash can sit and wait 😇

The bulk of my flights stay within the country, yet at this moment I'm traveling to Europe and packed my supply inside a Yeti. Sometimes you just have to do what works.

Rather than picking up a small 5mg kit, an option is to move only the amount you require into a fresh vial. I've also shifted my injection day by 1 or 2 days when necessary.

Me, I just pick up the imported gnocchi from Dollar Tree, but whatever works for you, haha.

I space mine out at 5 or 6 day intervals... right now I'm running 10mg tirz alongside 6mg reta. Before that I had it flipped: 10mg reta plus 6mg tirz, but honestly I enjoy that feeling of being repulsed by food.... I know that's not a wise mindset or the best choice for my health, but it gets the job done for me.

I used to inject tirz at the 6-day mark because by day 7 the appetite was returning (7.5mg dose).

Back when I was using compound Sema, some mornings began with intense hunger pangs, which then faded and I carried on with the day.

Right now I'm trying a combo: Reta 0.75mg on Monday, then Tirz 7.5mg on Thursday (2 weeks into this), so I'll see how it works for me. I'll figure out the right balance between the two.

Even so, today (Wednesday) I woke up hungry. I figure I'll wait another 1 or 2 weeks before changing doses. Then again, I just remembered I ate dinner at 2:30pm yesterday.....

Food is still enjoyable, but over these last 2 weeks it's been really simple to turn down ice-cream when my partner offers it after dinner.

Good that you brought that up.... during the night I get hunger pangs. I wake, take my pills in the early morning and leave, then for 3.5 hours I'm not hungry, and it simply fades....

Honestly, in my case it’s over within just a few minutes—too brief for me to end up actually craving food. And when I say first thing, I’m talking about roughly 4am.

Each week I've been injecting 18mg of tirz, and this past Friday I added 4mg of reta while lowering my tirz dose to 12mg per week. Whether I prefer the sensation of having less tirzepatide in my system, I can't really say—it's likely too soon to judge. Yesterday I had planned to inject another 2mg of reta, but I skipped it since I haven't been feeling my best. Even so, up to now my impression is that tirz's feelz appeal to me more than reta's. Honestly, I might even say sema's feelz beat reta's. That's why it makes complete sense to me that someone would pair 10mg tirz with 6mg reta instead of doing it the other way around.

It's a business trip, so the cost isn't on me. I satisfy my Italian craving at the OG 😂,

Same. That tirz wipes me out for about a day, roughly 24hrs following the shot. I'm still on team tirz as my top pick, though I'll always keep some reta in the mix.

I'm not ready to write off the reta, though it might end up being part of a stack. Some glucagon receptor action seems like something I need 🤣. My rhr has climbed even with 4mg. Both my Oura ring and my watch are freaking out, trying to figure out why my rhr is like this....

Just before reaching the weight I was aiming for, I was injecting 20mg of Tirz on a 5-day schedule.

What I really like is the anti-inflammatory response from a potent dose of Tirzepatide, plus the way it curbs my appetite.

Yeah, that was my plan all along — push the tirz as high as necessary, even to 25mg if it came to that. But once I was back in the 15 to 17mg range, the weight loss started to taper off and it seemed like I was hitting a plateau.

What's your current maintenance dose?

At present, I take 12 mg of tirz every 7 days. For maintenance, that dose appears to be the "Goldilocks" amount.

Thanks, I really needed to see this. Since the year wrapped up, plateauing has had me riding the struggle bus. Though my reasons are probably dumb: I'm still sitting at only 12-13mg of tirz (that tiny gap doesn't bother me much, particularly since COA fill numbers mean any given vial from a batch might carry 2-5mg above the labeled amount - gotta love overfills!) and it feels like surrendering some personal battle if I cave to that posted 15mg ceiling. What I truly, truly want is to succeed on the smallest dose that works. Still, 17 months on tirz and being this close to my goal is reason enough to finally make the jump. It isn't some magic figure I'm chasing, even though I dropped nearly 40 pounds during that first year, but rather all the "me" I can still pinch and squeeze while injecting, the stuff that wobbles when I move.

Between Jan and mid March this year I attempted lowering the tirz (to 8-10mg) while bringing in reta, beginning at 1mg and capping at 4. Even at 1.5-2mg of reta, the sides were awful - GI roulette, higher HR, feeling cold, lousy sleep, etc. I wish reta and sema didn't treat me so badly, so I'm staying loyal to my BFF tirz, which has never done me wrong and gives me zero sides.

Adding cagri sounds great, but I genuinely need to hold off on pep buys for a few months.

Given that my tirz supply could be counted on both hands in years, I figure I should just bite the bullet and raise the tirz. Waking up hungry isn't something I enjoy (even if coffee and water thankfully carry me to lunch without eating), and when I do eat, I'm not as full as I'd like.

Yeah, I'm also doing 10mg every 6 days. Reta isn't what I'm using, though.

Sure, this isn't the "healthiest" approach, but after spending most of my life fixated on food and constantly thinking about it, it's a relief to have that switch flipped off for a while and to actually find food disgusting and unappealing. 😔

I made the change to dosing every 5 days. With the 7 day plan, those final 2 days were unbearable for me. Because I work out at the gym daily, the food noise would start returning.

After moving to the 5 day schedule, I haven't felt that food noise coming back.

Compared to me, you put up with these threads far better. This gets posted constantly, all day long — as though the forum has no search at all, or as though folks can only get through so many words daily, so they save their reading and just type the first thing that pops into their head. If I skipped every newcomer asking " has anyone ever split dosed triz? ", would I ever come across any fob newbs at all?!?!?!

My approach is to help out, but with a passive-aggressive edge. 😂

The name for this is Eternal September. Originally it referred to waves of newcomers coming online each September, coinciding with the school year beginning. These days it never stops. A never-ending stream of newbies.

This isn't the Sourdough Forum. It's too complicated for an FAQ to cover.
