Anyone splitting Tirz into 2 weekly doses?

I've been injecting mounjaro for 28 weeks now. My starting dose was 2.5 mg/week, then after 4 weeks I moved up to 5mg and have kept it at 5mg since. Injections have always fallen on day 7. Starting weight: 101kg. Current weight: 78 kg. On day 6 I would always notice hunger noise. Still, it was never a major issue. Even with that hunger noise, I couldn't eat much beyond what I ate the rest of the week. Rather than split my dosage, I split my portions on day 6. My first grey market Tirz was ordered 2 weeks ago and arrived 2 days ago. I haven't pinned it yet and I'm unsure whether it differs from mounjaro at all. But in my view, splitting the dosage is completely unnecessary.
BP and grey product might not behave the same for you.

Nice work on your progress so far!
Thanks a lot. 1 hour ago, I pinned my initial 3,3 mg dose of grey tirz. The reason wasn't that I aimed for 3,3—it happened because I mistakenly constituted 20mg using 3ml BAC rather than 2ml 😉. With my pen, I could also pin 90 units instead of 60 to get 5mg. Still, I'd rather not put that much liquid under my skin. It isn't so terrible either, since I'd be starting at a maintenance dose anyway. Whether I'll notice a difference right away, I can't say. Over the past 2 days I've also been pinning 0,33 mg/day cjc1295 NO DAC+IPA, and today the suppression of hunger noise was obvious all day long. Feeling it this strongly was unexpected. Should that continue, I'll quit pinning tirz.

As long as it's safe and keeps giving you those awesome results, that's what counts!

When it comes to reconstitution, I really have to double-check my calculations.

Saturday: 15mg from .5ml.

Thursday: 4.5mg from .15ml. (Every bit of it tirzepatide, just to be clear.)

Why do it this way?

.5ml is the max my 31gage syringes can take.

1ml is what my 30gage syringes hold.

30 gage needles — I'm not a fan.

Also, isn't there a factor that Lilly vials consistently contain an extra .15mL beyond the label?

Has anyone here gotten their hands on the KwikPens yet? I'm curious about the overfill situation with those. I went ahead and ordered one today.

Are you getting pens that already contain the liquid? I really wouldn’t suggest doing that. It’s far from sterile, and there’s no way to know what’s actually going into your body.

Back in Jan 2025 when I first began, my routine involved dividing the dose — really tiny amounts per injection, taken as 2 shots each week. That pattern stayed the same for me right up until roughly the past 2 months, even as I kept increasing the dose over time. March was when I added Reta, then Cagri came in April. These days Reta and Tirz get injected on a 6-day rotation — switching back and forth, meaning one or the other lands every 3 days — and a very small Cagri dose goes along with each. My thinking on the Cagri is that it pairs better with Reta, given that I'm still early in and running low on Reta. Once the schedule shifted, I nudged my Tirz upward slightly, because now it's down to just 1 injection per week. I'm hunting for the right balance so Cagri doesn't become a permanent thing for me. Tirz is the one I'll probably keep using long term instead of Reta, because what I need is the quieting of food noise that Tirz provides.

From what I understand, Kwikpens are the pharmaceutical version of Mounjaro. At least, that's my take.

Correct, that's the type I meant. I went with the 15mg option and it's supposed to arrive tomorrow.

Still, I appreciate you looking out @Wecandothis!

A year back, I used the older pens, and each one was 2.5mg.

I haven't fully settled on pens yet.

If I went with the pens, wouldn't that generous overfill work out well for me?

Honestly, I get the feeling there are options you haven't thought through yet. Things such as prescriptions and doctors, pharmacies, and so on.

I also had a few of those single-use auto-injector pens, and trying to pull out any extra liquid from them simply wasn't worth the hassle.

In your case, because you're using vials and your dose is high, going with vials is completely logical. A relative of mine takes 2mg once a week, and I suspect she could stretch one of those 60mg KwikPens across two or three months—particularly since the pens contain preservatives, which the single vials don't. I still need to work out how many clicks that would be. Lilly, trying to make dose-splitting less appealing, put only a single number on the pens even though the pens do click.

Those seem legitimate, hopefully there's no issue with them.

We're in the same boat. 22 years have passed since my surgery. I inject tirz and Reta on a 3-day schedule.

Since my KwikPen comes straight from Lilly, I'd like to think it's the real deal 😂.

In the UK, KwikPens previously included at least 1 full additional dose, along with some extra for priming the needle. With a 15mg pen, that meant a 5th dose (sometimes called the golden dose), which people drew out using insulin syringes because the click mechanism stops after 240+ priming clicks—adding up to slightly more than 75mg of Mounjaro in total. That extra has since been eliminated in the UK and EU to meet US rules, though the same prices remain. Click charts are easy to find online, but the math is straightforward: if 60 clicks equal a 15mg single dose, you can calculate dose per click. Pens with different doses use different amounts for those 60 clicks. That’s how people ‘short dose’ so larger pens stretch further. With careful hygiene and by holding the plunger down until the needle was withdrawn, I was fine using them for 8-10 weeks. A while back, though, I switched to grey.

Appreciate the details! Yesterday evening I looked into both the pen mechanism and the golden dose. Now I can't wait for the pen to arrive today.

This won't be for my own use—a relative of mine will be on it at a low dose for quite a while. My plan was around 3 months.

Same standard precautions you'd take with a vial: verify the liquid is transparent rather than hazy, and so on. I stored it in the refrigerator, only taking it out for the injection (!), and unlike some people I didn't bother letting it come up to room temperature beforehand — no burning sensation and no ISRs for me. On the cap I mark the first-use date using a Sharpie as well. One thing to keep in mind: NovoTwist needles won't attach to the kwikpen, though the majority of other universal-fit options — for example GlucoRx and CarePoint — will, as long as they conform to ISO 11608-2.

Is there anyone here who uses Tirz 2 times per week? What I'm asking is whether people divide the weekly amount across 2 separate days—taking 1 early in the week and the other toward the end?
My schedule is Tuesday morning and Friday night. The 7 mg of Tirz I use gets divided between those two points. The reason I started doing this: around day 5 after injecting, severe rebound hunger would kick in. Increasing the dose isn't an option for me, since at that level my gut motility slows down far too much. Even with reduced gut motility and feeling full, the hunger is still there. Until I experiment with other peps, this approach works best for me.
