When Weight-Loss Drugs Don’t Work

For me, GLP1s have never produced any weight loss at all... With Keto, dropping pounds came simpler, faster, and without the constant back-and-forth... keto made it so so much eaiser... every month on keto I could reliably drop 14lbs

That said, what GLP1s definitely accomplished was making weight gain much harder... that part is accurate... taken as a whole, my time on GLP1s has honestly been a nightmare... endlessly god damned stalls... it makes no difference whether I eat far less or far more, the scale refuses to move in either direction... fucking weird... honestly I feel trapped because although not gaining is a plus, I badly need to drop at least another 25lbs... and it just won't come off... the sole method that seems to work for me, even if it's slow while on GLP1s, is removing carbs then adding them back... repeating that cycle over and over... the catch is that going carb-free on GLP1s turns into a hellscape of relentless hunger, the most awful sleep imaginable, and low blood sugar

According to this article, it appears that 1 out of 10 people have no response whatsoever to GLP1s.

Is there anyone here who knows a person that experienced absolutely no effect?
In my view, this isn’t solely a bodily reaction—it also hinges on the person’s mindset. There are those who, at this point, simply lack the mental capacity to shed pounds successfully.

With keto plus GLP-1s, the outcomes people report really do look wildly inconsistent. Am I right to think you gave keto another shot once your system had gotten used to the GLP-1s over a few months (rather than being put off by a rough first attempt)?

The idea out there is that gluconeogenesis responds to demand (I’m skeptical myself, but that’s a side note), so maybe it’s not shocking that mimicking the “carbs are on the way” signal could complicate things.

I’m in the middle of switching from tirzepatide (Eli Lilly’s Mounjaro) over to grey retatrutide.

My previous approach used split dosing—2 × 3.75 mg each week—and I’ve now replaced the Monday evening injection with 2.5 mg of retatrutide. Come Wednesday, appetite suppression falls away quite sharply for me, and the Friday morning Mounjaro shot only just arrives in time to carry me through the weekend.

The plan: raise the retatrutide gradually and find out whether that gives me stronger and steadier appetite control. After things feel reasonably consistent across the whole week, I’ll complete the changeover to retatrutide.

So far, the good part is that neither compound has produced any negative side effects for me.

Has anyone else gone through a similar switch, and how did it go for you?
One case I can share.

After titrating up to 10mg of Tirz, a friend shed next to no weight. According to her, hunger suppression never kicked in at all. Roughly 6 months back, she discontinued it.

These days she's taking 2mg of Reta and noticing portion control - she'll eat just half a meal and feel done. Hopefully the effect sticks around for her.

That sounds really tough, I'm sorry. Have you had any lab tests done, like checking your thyroid hormone levels? It would be good to rule out metabolic adaptation, hormonal issues, and glucose regulation problems.

Yeah, my husband had no reaction whatsoever to semaglutide — nothing, zero. All he mentioned was feeling tired, that was it. He reached a 1 mg dose and still didn't drop any weight.
