I’ve run into quite a few posts online talking about vail caps.

It’s a rubber cap that goes over an open vial. Is it just a dumb gimmick, or do they genuinely help keep moister out of your vails?

If your open vials live inside a sealed container that keeps shmutz away, I don’t see them as required. There are people who steer clear of caps, arguing they become yet another spot for bacteria to build up. Occasionally I do use them, since the colors let me tell open vials apart without hassle, plus they’re cute, and I love stuff! After taking one off, I always wipe/scrub it well with an alcohol swap and wait for it to dry before putting it back. YMMV.

A few months back, there was a conversation on this topic—try searching for it.

That had not crossed my mind before, yet it makes sense. The moment I reconstitute, it goes right into my pen cartridge—but I will definitely be sharing this tip 👍🏼

Most of the time these are made on a 3d printer using filament or plastics. The only situation where I bother with them is when I'm sending my ma something that's already reconned or in a vial, just because. Otherwise they just add another thing that needs cleaning rather than being useful. That's MY take, anyway.

I make caps on my 3d printer, mostly so I can tell my vials apart and so my peabrain doesn’t lose track of what the hell I just injected. I’ve got covers for "popped" caps that are just personal whatever, and then I’ve got cap covers; if diff vendors are used or they switch colors, I’ve got a continious system.

I’m a user of these. I assign colors, and on each one I note its contents. One shade for evening peps, a different shade for morning peps. A separate one for once-a-week items, and yet another for as-needed items... I sanitize them after every use, and for me that’s a real benefit. At 4am, there’s a strong chance I’d inject 100 units of reta when my actual target was 100 units of nad+. That mistake would mess me up badly.
