Unsure whether it's hunger or stress driving me

By nature I'm an extremely anxious and sensitive individual, and on top of that I have pronounced autism. When stress and frustration build up, my automatic reaction is to consume everything in sight.

Over time I've taught myself to manage those impulses and found other outlets to release tension, yet food remains my go-to quick fix for stress recovery. The heavier the stress, the stronger my urge to eat becomes.

My history includes being severely obese as a child and teenager. These days I'm a muscular, healthy 19-year-old guy, but even one rough day can trigger an enormous binge while I'm attempting to cut.

I've used reta just once and never exceeded 3mg weekly, since I react quite well in every area aside from hunger. My general appetite and food noise dropped somewhat, but each binge episode hit nearly as hard as it did before.

What I want to know is: ought I to test a larger dose that might be capable of curbing the appetite behind my occasional binges, or should I look into something different (selank and/or DSIP come to mind) to address my stress and frustration problem?

Reta doesn't tend to suppress appetite all that strongly. Should that be the effect you're after most, switching over to tirzepitide could be worth looking into. And if the other advantages of staying on reta matter enough to you, adding a small amount of cagrilintide on top is an option.

Beyond that, putting some effort into managing your stress and frustration would pay off in plenty of ways aside from how they tie into eating.

I have to be honest: apart from doing my best to stay composed, I don't actually have any methods that work for swallowing my feelings. Still, I'm improving at keeping a level head — during my last cut I got below 10%bf and never once binged.

I suppose meditation is still something I could explore for a bit of support.

In any case, thanks again for the advice.

Right now I'm using fat burners to keep my appetite and cravings in check. The formula includes ephedra, DMA, caffeine, guarana, white willow, yohimbe, green tea, gingko, yerba mate, L-tyrosine, and acetyl-carnitine. On top of that, it boosts my energy so I burn more calories, which means it helps me in 2 ways.

When stress is what's driving the urge instead of hunger, upping appetite suppression probably will not reach the mechanism behind a binge.

I've found myself in much the same spot. From my experience, the anxiety and stress have to be handled on their own. Alongside Tirzepatide, my doctor prescribed Wellbutrin at a certain dose, and that has made a big difference, together with therapy. For me, Tirzepatide by itself isn't the answer. ❤️

Reta at 4mg hasn't stopped my cravings. They show up more once the dose starts fading, around days 4-7. I've started Cagrilintide for the food noise, and I'm also thinking about Selank for my anxiety and sleep. I deal with insomnia and I overthink every little thing lol.
