Hi, I'm based in England and I'm trying to learn everything I can before starting my Reta journey. Crypto is just something I can't wrap my head around — must be my age. I've read that accounts can get shut down. Any advice on what someone new should be looking into? Thanks in advance.

Crypto might feel a bit awkward at first, but it becomes straightforward once you get used to it. My suggestion would be to find a basic purchasing tutorial on YouTube or a similar site, and then add a bit extra beyond what you actually require, just in case prices move around during the transaction. That has caught me out before on smaller orders.

This forum, YouTube and plenty of other places are full of crypto information. AI is where I finally found my answers.

The key point: open an exchange wallet for buying crypto, but never send payment to a vendor straight from it. Instead, set up a non-custodial wallet, move the crypto from the exchange into that wallet, and pay your vendor from there.

No connection to them at all, but my setup is the Kraken exchange paired with the Kraken wallet. Works flawlessly.

Should the gas money side of things still put you off, go with BTC and settle on the BTC network. It honestly doesn't get any simpler, though it costs a little more. Nearly all vendors take it, and it's a fast, easy way to begin — leaving you loads of time to work the rest out afterwards.

Same situation for me when it comes to crypto - my approach is to hunt down the occasional seller who accepts Alipay.

Have them quote the amount in Yen, then send it via the Alipay app using your credit card - finished.

When I tried using Alipay within the EU, it wouldn't allow online payments to vendors. Locally, payments went through fine, but it lacked the PayPal-style remote payment option.

Has anyone else in the EU run into the same issue? Or found a workaround?

It's become obvious in a way that honestly stings that plenty of newcomers on this site are in way over their heads and don't have the first clue about opsec. That's why I'm putting together this unhinged write-up. I was present during the SR1.0 RCs days (my handle isn't a joke) so the fact that I'm still walking free ought to prove I've got a handle on this stuff...
