I just bought some Tirz with the intention of using it to control my food noise, Binge thoughts and hunger. I am 5’8 and 118lbs (53kg) so I am already lean , but I fear not for long if I don’t keep it in control. My question for you guys here is: did anyone take a lower dose than the starting dose for similar reasons and did it work? 2.5mg a week is recommended to start, but I thought about trying 1mg a week to see how it is. I wouldn’t want to lose too much weight as I am not heavy to begin with. Thank you!!

If all you want is to control food noise you might try cagrilintide.

Nothing wrong with trying a small dose of anything to see how it treats you. It might do something or it might do nothing. I was concerned about an allergic reaction so that is what I did.

I microdose tirz (1mg a week split dose 0.5mg 2x a week) I didn't have much to lose and only 4 lbs from my goal. I plan to keep microdosing it for maintenance so I don't have to keep stressing about putting on 5-10 lbs again.

A lot of people stay on tirz after reaching their goal so it would be similar, just for maitenance.

I want to say, that you are a very low weight, so I think, you are restricting a lot now, if you also have binges. This cycle needs to be breaked, all the restriction can lead to extra powerful binges. I was in this cycle for years.

I would eat real meals 3 x per day plus good snacks, EVERY day, so your brain can feel safe.

Make sure you are not undereating.

A microdose of Tirz may help your food thoughts and noise, but if you are underfueling an underweight body, you may look into something not good. So be careful.

Your BMI is already 18. You're already underweight. By taking peptides, you're putting your life at risk.

Hi I understand completely but I only wanna take it for the BED. That is why I might try taking less , but If I find it is too hard to eat I will be tracking to make sure I get enough calories or stopping entirely. That is one of the reasons I didn’t want Reta, because I heard it increases energy expenditure 🥲. Thank you very much for your honesty and for taking the time to tell me so I am aware of the risks! I’m definitely keeping that in mind .

How has micro dosing been working for you? Did you use to have food noise before and did it help? Lmk!🙂

Hi, thanks for your concern! I will definitely make sure I am nourishing my body enough, do not worry. I just want to adress that I have always been skinny, I’m just a tall Ectomorph girl with long limbs ( just like my parents ). My goal here is only to help my BED since I’ve been triggered by a few life events recently. Have a good day 🙂)))

That's good, tirz can probably help you with the food noise.

I love tirz! I am skinny fat and only had 15 lbs to lose. I didn't have any food noise before and was able to live in severe calorie deficit easily, however, I was gaining weight even while dropping to 1 salad a day (400-500 calories)! In the past I was able to lose weight by dropping to 900-1200 calories a day, but not anymore. I did intermittent fasting 23/1 and dropped calories to 500 a day and still gained weight!😭 Doctors said everything was fine, but perimenopause was kicking my butt. Labs showed everything was "within range" even though it wasn't optimal. With tirz, I am able to drop the stubborn weight and actually eat like a normal person - 2 small healthy meals a day or 1 normal sized one. I had restricted my intake so badly, my doctor said I had gone catabolic - where the more you starve the more your body holds on to fat for survival. So tirz has given me my life back.

I think Tirz will eventually be proven as an effective treatment for BED. There are studies ongoing right now about Tirz and addiction and I have always said that BED belongs in the addiction category and not with the other esting disorders (I am a clinician in this space).

Personally, this is something I have struggled with. Food noise and not really feeling full unless I substantially over-eat have always been a problem. Tirz just stopped that instantly. I had dealt with all the behaviors a long time ago, but the mental part never improved until Tirz came along. I recommend starting low and moving up slowly until you find a sweet spot.

All that said, 1) This is for BED and BED only. If you have any other ED issues this becomes a much more complicated issue. Either way, you should be engaging with a therapist but especially so if there are other issues going on. 2) As they say, I am a therapist but I'm not your therapist. None of this should be considered clinical advice or approval.

love your answer! If I can ask, the clinical starting dose is 2.5mg, but would 1/ 1.5mg have any effect at all if I only wanna treat the BED? Tysm!

Are you under doctor care now for BED?...Might want to consider profession treatment if not...It would be interesting if treatments involved GLP-1s....GL!

I would recommend anyone start at 1mg. You can always start moving up after a week if you are not feeling it. I would start at 1 and move up by .5 a week until you start feeling it (or hit the 2.5mg starting dose). I would suggest that when you first start feeling something stop at that dose for several weeks becuse it will continue to build up in your system for the next 4 weeks or so.

Always solid advice!

The problem with using GLP drugs at a BMI of 18 is that it is perilously close to anorexia nervosa territory, which by definition starts at a BMI of 17. I understand that you do not believe you have this or have a problem like that, but it is useful to know that that is also completely normal for people with anorexia to believe that, I would suggest getting expert advice before going down that path. Any significant effect on reducing eating or binging is pretty likely to also cause weight loss. GLP drugs are likely to eventually end up being used for BED, especially with obesity, but the research is not really there yet and I do not think they are commonly used in practice, and I doubt greatly that any medical or therapy professional would be comfortable with anyone using them with a BMI that low. If it was binging with purging , it might be a possible viable option, but some professional guidance would be a lot safer.

They certainly help me with BED which is more or less gone with a carefully designed diet and with the help of GLP drugs, but I did start off at 145kg.
