Tirz and sleep apnea

Hey everyone. Right now I'm using reta, and today marks my 4th dose at 1mg; next Monday I'll bump it up to 1.5 or 2mg. Things are going well and I've dropped 12lbs in 3 weeks, which is incredible for me. Lately I came across info about tirz and how it affects sleep apnea, and that really caught my interest. I deal with SA, and even though I try hard to use a CPAP at night, I rip it off while sleeping. For those of you who also have SA, how well has tirz worked, and what's the best way to use it? I'm considering reta Monday morning and tirz Wednesday evening. Does that sound like a good plan, and what amount would help?

Thanks!
I see that your plan is to go up in dose next Monday. The scale is moving — so what's the reason for a bump? A number of folks, and sadly many physicians too, just go along with whatever titration schedule the trials used. If the pounds are coming off, the dose is doing its job. Why not hold at the dose you're on now, right up until you've gone four weeks or more without any loss? Everyone is rushing so much.
Fair enough. Over the next 14 days I'll keep an eye on how much I'm losing, then decide. Appreciate it.

Fair point — I've just been going along with what's standard without questioning it. Over the coming weeks I'll keep an eye on my loss, and only bump the dose up once things level off. Appreciate it.

Exactly. When something is working, there is no sense in changing it — without a cause, I would not raise the dose. Keep in mind too that a half-life of roughly 5 days means around 4 weeks are needed before residual buildup reaches its maximum. Take a 2.5mg drug with a 5 day half-life: by week 4 it accumulates to 3.95mg.

My sleep study showed an AHI of 115, and that was roughly a year back. Since I started using a cpap, my average AHI has been 1.

After that, I began tirz and dropped a significant amount of weight. Even so, I snored heavily back when I was younger and in good shape. Because of that, I figure the cpap will still be necessary once I hit my goal weight. According to my doctor, losing weight doesn't necessarily resolve sleep apnea.
