It’s funny that I feel empathy first for obese people because I know the struggle. I’m also a smoker that has quit before and I can say when I’m a former smoker I do judge people for smoking. But when I am a smoker… I’m like don’t fucking judge me.

One of my favorite past times has been judging fat people for being dumb and/or lazy. I had no respect for them. Doesn't mean I didn't like them or have them as friends.
That all changed when I found myself chubby. I even used all the classic excuses. Work, kids, whatever.
Reta has given me back lean-body brain. No more excuses for myself or others. It has never been easier to get lean and you can do it for like $10/month. Obesity is a physical reflection of your low IQ in the year 2026.

On one hand, it seems easy to judge smokers: Stop. There is no need to stop. Yet on the other hand, I know one guy who was able to lose a lot of weight using willpower alone but he fails every time he tries to stop smoking. He is a smart person but his explanatory style regarding his his stop smoking efforts is quite bad: He tells me how easily he'll know it will be to stop and then decides that he'll just take one smoke because he's stressed out, not realizing one smoke is how one gets back into it. But all of that is typical of an addict. I'm not an addict and have not been an addict of anything other than food, yet I know if I was addicted to alcohol, drugs, or smoking (kind of a drug too since it contains nicotine), I'd likely act the same way. I'm all for doing what I can do as an individual and what we can do as a society to help addictions, however simply blaming them doesn't help them; it only gives us a false sense of moral superiority. At least as to overeating, I know that the data shows that social stigma does not help people lose weight.Pete369 said:

I don't judge either. Both are medical problems. Addictions suck. Food and smokes.keangkong said:

I am a smoker who doesn't smoke.
I don't call myself an ex-smoker, because I love smoking, have met the best people smoking, and miss it.
And when they find a way for me to be able to smoke and not suffer any consequences, I'm right back to it

It was fun, but it didn't meet the criteria for a Drama Read from the very start. A real, genuine Drama Thread is honestly kind of rare here, because it requires at least two oppositing parties, both of whom believe they are "right" and at least one of whom is going to silly expenditure-of-mental-energy lengths to "win" at Internet Fite.
In a real Drama Thread, I either never post to begin with, or withdraw completely and be very quiet as soon as I suspect it's actually starting to go down; just me posting can totally derail a Drama Thread before it even gets going because one or more participants sees me and realizes I'm eagerly waiting for them to produce ridiculousness for me to eat. Which, in turn, makes them suddenly remember that Internet Fites ARE kind of ridiculous, and they lose interest.
But this was never going to be a Drama Thread because the initial poster (who I believe was the same guy who piped up in the sharps-container thread chirping about wanting to hurt homeless people) was never actually feeling any feelings except boredom, and his troll was lazy enough that most people couldn't be bothered to be real mad.
