I've spent a year on triz and reached my goal weight. I kept training the whole time, but I still shed some muscle, and I didn't have a lot to start with after many years of diets that didn't work.

All of my pens came via a UK prescription before prices went up, and I'm now on my final few. My plan is to run several bulk and cut cycles to add solid muscle and strip the remaining fat before I attempt to stop.

I'm considering a switch to reta for a few reasons. For one, on triz I struggle to eat enough to bulk, even when I lower the dose, and I've read that reta is weaker in that respect.

Another reason is that reta does a better job of preserving muscle while cutting and burns fat more effectively thanks to the glucagon component.

How do people feel about this approach, and has anyone pulled it off?

I switched over from 10mg of Triz to Reta. Began with 1mg and worked up to 5mg of Reta.

In my experience, the appetite suppression felt weaker. However, once I reached around 4 or 5 mg of Reta, it became more apparent.

If anything, I'm beginning to appear more defined and it seems like I'm dropping fat while holding onto much more muscle.

That honestly matches what I want: weaker appetite blunting so I can still eat properly, while the fat-burning effect stays.

Hey,

To start, what you've accomplished so far is seriously impressive, particularly given how tough previous diets have been for you. Preserving muscle while dropping weight is a hard thing to pull off.

I've now spent 7–8 months on Reta, and MJ came before that. Strength training and cardio have stayed part of my routine the entire time, and on Reta I get the sense that more muscle is sticking around, which lines up well with my body recomposition goal.

The eating side is where I've seen one of the largest shifts: MJ left me struggling to take in enough food because appetite suppression hit so hard. Reta lets you get in enough to fuel a bulk or hold onto muscle, yet you still feel full and satisfied, so portion control and consistency come more easily.

Reta's glucagon component is another major distinction, since it supports a higher metabolic rate and more fat burning while appetite stays in check. When you combine that with sufficient protein and strength work, it may lower how much of the total weight lost comes from muscle.

A few people also stack in a small amount of cagrilintide, an amylin analog, to boost appetite control further. It delays gastric emptying and adds satiety, which pairs well with what Reta does. That said, once others titrate up, they can feel Reta's appetite suppression on its own.

Appreciate the response.

So that's my issue with triz right now — it did the job for dropping the bulk of the weight, but at this point I feel sort of skinny fat, and the hunger blunting is way too strong even after dropping the dose a lot. I keep getting the usual remarks that I look unwell, since I'm thin yet there's still a fair amount of fat pockets I want gone.

Down the line I'd like to stop it altogether, but my thinking is the smartest route is to build muscle while shedding fat, which would leave me with a higher tdee after I'm done with it.

I keep reading that reta helps hold onto muscle during cuts, so what you said backs up that this is likely the direction I should take.

Thanks

At this point, focusing on body recomposition could work really well for you. It takes a lot of patience, but it’s worth reading up on. The idea is to drop fat and add muscle simultaneously. In practice, that tends to mean eating near maintenance calories or at a very slight deficit, getting plenty of protein, and putting progressive strength training first. The fat comes off more slowly, but you end up looking healthier, fuller, and tighter rather than simply smaller.

Best of luck.

That's precisely why I made the switch too. I've now dropped close to 7 stone, and at this point I'm using the reta almost for body recomposition. Strength training has always been part of my routine, so I've been going at it hard over the past year. The results are really beginning to show!

This thought crossed my mind too. Tirz has been working well for me over the past couple of months, but when I get near my goal weight I plan to make the change to reta for those exact same reasons. At just 2.5mg, my appetite is almost nonexistent on tirz. So my hope is that this will fix the problem.

Nice work on dropping the weight. The appetite suppression was great during the loss phase, but like you noticed, once you're at a lower weight you want to eat more to put on muscle, and that's the point where triz doesn't really deliver.

When you made the change, did you go straight to just 1 week, or did you lower the triz gradually while raising the reta?

I've seen people do both, and I'd sort of figured I'd simply make the switch over 1 week since I've never had tolerance problems with it.

What's strange is that I climbed all the way up to 15mg, and during that ramp the smaller doses never hit me that hard — I was still eating fine, cooking healthy meals at home and so on. But after dropping the weight, even those same smaller doses now completely wipe out any appetite for proper food.

At this point I could survive on nothing but protein shakes.

My hope is that a stretch on reta will help me readjust to eating proper meals again, alongside training and recomp.

I made the change from 10mg Triz directly to 1mg reta, no taper. Since your body is already familiar with GLPs, you should handle it fine. For me, the switch brought 0 side effects. After that I moved up gradually, reaching 5mg Reta across 2 months. At 5mg the appetite suppression seems like more than I need. I will probably drop to 3.5/4mg, since that is where it feels right for me.

I never tried Tirz, so I have no way to compare it with Reta. What I did use was Sema, and also sema combined with cagri. Now that I'm at my goal weight, figuring out a maintenance dose on Reta has been a real struggle. For me the appetite suppression is intense, and I'm still having a hard time eating enough! If anti-inflammatory benefits matter to you, keep in mind Reta doesn't seem to deliver those as well. While I was on Sema, I was able to reduce my asthma medication and my allergies were basically gone - that hasn't held true since I moved to Reta.

On Sema my RHR climbed a lot, but on Reta there's barely any change - my RHR has stayed between 58 and 60 on Reta, compared with 69-72 on Sema! Without either, mine sits at 55-58.

My blood sugar runs low on Reta (in the 60's when not fasting.) My Creatinine is 45 now - it was normal before I started, so I assume I've lost muscle or my kidneys have turned super efficient!

All of this just goes to show it depends on the person! I love Reta for weight loss, but I'm not convinced it's the right maintenance drug for me, and I'm actually thinking about switching to Tirz! For some people it may work great as maintenance, for others not so much. Just keep that in mind.

Yeah, this varies a huge amount from one individual to another. For me, Triz was simply too suppressive. With Reta I'm able to eat, though not a huge amount lol

Fortunately, I don't have any other conditions, so making the switch shouldn't change anything on that front.

I suppose the only way to know is to test it out and watch what happens. If it doesn't suit me, I can always go back.

Triz worked really well for me until now, so I hope it does the same for you.

This week marks my first reta injection. Tirz has been my go-to for more than a year (sema came before that) and I've been happy with it, though I'm curious what reta might offer instead. A few months have passed without the scale moving, which isn't a huge concern, but my hope is that reta breaks the stall and the losses pick back up. Whenever I reach my goal, there's still the question of which compound I'll stay on long term.

One more thing: does anyone know why "triz" gets used by some folks here rather than tirz? (Could it be a way to avoid the usual terms, like on a lot of TG and Discord servers?) 😅

Whenever I hit a plateau, I either kept doing what I was doing or increased the dose, and in the end I pushed past it.

Spelling has never been my strong suit even on a good day, so I abbreviated it—but yes, tirz dose is clearer 😂

I've been maintaining since May 2025. I shared this somewhere before..... I'm not sure it fits what you're looking for data-wise, since I didn't move to a high Reta dose, but I skipped any washout and basically quit Tirz cold.

"I was on Tirz for almost exactly 1 year (I believe May 30th 2025 was my final day). I stayed at 15mg for 5 months. (about January 2025- May 2025.) Most of my weight came off between May 2024 and December 2024, when I moved from 12.5 to 15). My final 20lbs to reach goal happened after I went to 15mg Tirz. During the last 2 weeks on Tirz, I stepped down to 10mg and added .125 cagri. Then I stopped Tirz completely the following week, started 1mg Reta plus .25 Cagri for maintenance (no washout, although I thought about it). "

I'm still at goal, on 3mg Reta by itself. I stopped Cagri in November 2025. I ended up losing about 15 more lbs while maintaining, which is why I quit the Reta/ Cagri combo. I'm keeping to the Reta 3mg protocol for maintenance as long as my weight holds steady and I don't lose more. If food noise becomes too much, I can always restart Cagri. I'm eating more than I did on Tirz, but I feel satisfied easily.
