Screening out 'pharma grade' peptides

Over the 4+ months since I joined this forum, the knowledgeable folks here have taught me a great deal, and I've shifted my views on a number of topics. Filtering is one of them. These days I run (nearly) every peptide through a filter.

I'm aware there are already countless threads discussing filtration. Still, I haven't been able to locate any that address the particular points I have in mind.

So here's my question: suppose a peptide has been tested and all results look favorable — I'm talking M&P, sterility, endos, heavy metals, everything — would filtration still be required?

And what about pharma grade glutathione or HCG that I purchase? Should those be filtered too? At the moment I don't filter them, but I'm curious whether there's any reason I ought to be doing so.

I might be mistaken, yet my impression is that sterility testing costs more than filtering does.
That changes if the testing is included in a group buy.

Regardless of whether testing was done, filtering should always be the standard approach. The vial that got tested isn't the same vial you have.

That perspective is new to me, and you're completely correct. Appreciate it.

When a supplier might be dubious—and with most of ours, that's the case—that's where filtering comes into play, as I see it.

Risk tolerance varies widely from person to person, which you've surely noticed across the other 50 threads on filtering. A portion of people filter, a portion don't.

A few of your pointed questions stand out to me, and I plan to keep an eye on what answers come in. (It would've helped if the thread had a different name so more folks would spot those questions.) Still, I'm eager for what gets posted 🙂

For the glutathione and HCG, I'd say "pharma grade" is the crux of it.

I've purchased both, and neither India nor China would qualify as pharma grade, in my view.

As soon as I hit post, I wished I had picked a different title (I've fixed it now, so hopefully more people will chime in).

That's a good angle about where 'pharma grade' actually comes from. Does Korean glutathione fall under pharma grade?

The HCG I have came from India, through a rep who was recommended in a GB group I'm part of. Would it be wiser to be cautious with that one?

From what I've gathered, Korean Glutathione has a solid reputation, and I injected it without any filtration and ran into zero problems.

Not long ago, @Calm Logic put up something, if I'm remembering correctly, that showed around 6 Indian HCG brands with test results all over the place — not a single one of the 5000iu products actually contained 5000iu. The consensus I keep running into is that Indian oils and HCG are, at best, not something you can rely on. By the filtering criteria you're using, I wouldn't put them in the "Pharma grade" category.

One more thing: I've essentially been running one of them for a year, and my labs have come back perfect...

I located the post you referenced, and reading it definitely opened my eyes. Somehow it slipped past me earlier.

For the past year, what have you been using?

I own that exact model too. It's been just 7 days since I began using it. Before I started, I got my testosterone level checked, and I plan to get it checked again once 12 weeks have passed.

I've been trying to dig up this post again without any luck — a nurse shared an image of a tiny speck of inorganic matter lodged in tissue. A chemical panel can come back clean, yet glass fragments, rubber particles or metal debris left over from making the vial can still ride along with your peptides, and running them through a filter is one solid way to keep those out.

@Skidude About India — did your glutathione and HCG come from IndiaMart, the kind of place that sells prescription meds, or from a standard peptide supplier? Is there a reason you wouldn't put faith in the IndiaMart Rx products? (I've only just begun poking around there; my focus is mainly topicals, but those prices are thrilling to see: Differin gel at $2 versus $20-30 stateside…fingers crossed what they carry is legit. Any thoughts appreciated.) EDIT: just noticed you'd already put up your pic while I was mid-typing.

Keen to hear everyone's take!

Using a filter is definitely the ideal approach, though plenty of folks skip it and never run into problems.

In my case, a few peptides I have were sent for 3rd party testing and every category came back clean, so I stopped filtering them — mostly out of laziness — but doing so would still be the safer route.

Filters cost so little; when test results are good, it basically works out to insurance for peace of mind.

For tablets, Indiamart can work well; based on what I've read, oils tend to be where more issues come up.

When it comes to tablets, my own experience has been very positive—I have 2x blood pressure meds, prednisone, etc.. and they do the job. The HCG also did what it was supposed to.

One big warning: the main site is full of scammers, and there are plenty of them. The smarter approach is the same one we use for CN peps: track down a reliable vendor.

The Glutathione comes from Korea, so I can't say anything about the version from India.

No matter what anyone says, I’ll still run my kits through a filter. My reasoning is simple: for roughly a dollar, I get a bit more peace of mind. A clean test result on one vial from a given batch doesn’t guarantee that every vial I got from that same batch is also clean.

I'm new to this community and I have a question: is it necessary to filter my peptides? If so, what's the process, and where can I buy the supplies? I know this might come across as a dumb question, but I'm asking seriously.

How much trust you can place in a batch being good — your own vial included — comes down to how many samples were run. More samples means more confidence.

That said, this isn't pharma grade we're talking about, and a filter costs $0.50 plus a minute or two of your time.

You can simply use the search feature, and you'll find plenty of results, among them instructional videos. Additionally, within Forum>General, there is a dedicated section called Supplies & Accessories that includes vendors and more.

not a pharma grade filter you're referring to? The kind that don't come individually wrapped? And what filter do you personally go with... I came across 13mm PES .22um

What I meant wasn't that the filter lacks pharma grade status. My point was that the peptides themselves aren't pharma grade.

I use that same filter.
