0.5mg is a very conservative , I would say overcautious starting dose. But there are defintely people on this forum who describe having a pretty bad time starting at 2 mg, despite the fact that that is the drug company standard protocol, and they would know how often people got unpleasant side effects from that starting dose and decided it was reasonable.
Depends a bit on what you are trying to achieve, If you are mildly overweight , going up very slowly to fairly low max doses is probably reasonable, but for more severe obesity going up a bit less slowly to maximum doses ( unless weight loss rates, and hunger control at lower doses are fine ) makes sense.
Anyone on GLP drugs should look at glp plotter so you understand the way these drugs are absorbed and removed from the body , the week long half life is very different to nearly all other drugs, and it is not intuitively obvious at all.
The main guide to dose increases is effects or side effects, or weight loss. If you have zero effects at 0.5mg, going to 1mg in a week or 2 rather than waiting 4 weeks is really very safe, not zero risk as that is never possible, but given you are starting below standard start doses, waiting 4 weeks to increase is probably not needed if there are no effects, if there are effects or side effects then going up more slowly makes sense. There is no way to know in advance whether you will have appetite suppression or side effects at 1mg or 8mg until you get there, but generally mild effects or mild side effects can be a useful guide for what to expect next time you increase doses, and suggest that the next dose increase be delayed or smaller. One potential issue with starting that low and slow is it could take 6 months to get to a dose where it starts doing anything if you are someone who does not respond to low doses, I think even fairly patient people would get pretty annoyed by that.
