Hi everyone,

I'm still pretty fresh to this space and picking up a lot. I've been hunting around for answers to a few things and haven't had much luck finding them easily. Maybe my search skills just aren't up to par, or maybe there just aren't many threads covering these topics. Regardless, I'll keep digging, but if any of you experienced folks feel like helping someone out by answering any of these, I'd really appreciate it.

- I've noticed that certain peptides need or do better with AA added as a buffer. From what I've gathered, "Glacial" is usable because it's pure, but I can only find it through chemistry suppliers and not in sealed sterile packaging. Is that what everyone here uses, or am I overlooking something?

- I'm trying to understand why someone would want to buy vials containing GLP1s that go above 60mg. As far as I know, the highest dose for any GLP is 15mg/wk. That works out to about 60mg/mo. So what's the point of getting vials with more than that? Is everyone injecting beyond the recommended max? Sharing vials among several people? Or is there some extra storage trick I haven't come across yet that keeps a vial good for longer?

I'll add more questions as they come up. Thanks, everyone.

With Tirzepatide, it's possible to purchase a bigger mg vial, then reconstitute it and filter the contents into multiple smaller vials. Any vials you aren't using right now can be frozen, then thawed when required. Typically—though not in every case—the bigger vials offer the lowest cost per mg.

Have you tried looking things up using the magnifying glass icon, which is this forum's built-in search tool?

To show what I mean, I ran a quick lookup using the phrase "bac days":

Indeed, I did that. I also went through the discussions that appeared most connected to the topic. Even so, they still left my question unanswered. Take your BAC water search example—it turns up a great thread where people describe using 1 vial of bac water over long stretches to reconstitute several peptide vials. Yet unless I missed it, nobody in there says they would reconstitute a large-dose peptide vial and then draw it out slowly across a long time. That's why I'm asking about it.

A lot of homes have at least 2 people using a GLP1. When you go for bigger MG amounts, the cost drops a lot. That said, for just 1 person on a small dose, buying a 40mg vial makes no sense, but like you suggested, 10mg would be the smarter choice. On top of that, plenty of folks claim a reta vial, as an example, stays good for 10+ weeks rather than the 4 that's typically advised.

Here's the brief version

  • For most folks in this community, once a peptide — GLP varieties included — has been mixed, a refrigerated vial is thought to stay usable for up to 90 days, provided you swab with alcohol before each draw.
  • Some, myself included, will mix several tirzepatide vials in one sitting and put the unused ones in the freezer. That essentially halts the countdown.
  • At recon time, I also freeze a punctured bac vial so it can go through multiple thaw cycles. The community backs this less, but unless I encounter a rationale that holds up, I'll keep at it.
  • As ever, each person has to locate their own acceptable risk level on every continuum. Or simply follow "official" recommendations if that's your preference.

My wife and I are both using Reta exclusively. The larger vials are what I prefer. I've got 24mg, a huge amount of 30 and 50mg, and several 60mg kits. Right now I'm waiting on additional supply from GB, which includes a 140mg kit. At the moment, we're taking 8mg. My approach is simply to add 3ml BAC and then tweak the pin amounts. For the R140, my plan is to use 6ml BAC in a 10ml vial and share that one between us. To put it another way, I just combined 2 R50 (which is actually 56mg because of the overfill) with 3ml BAC, and I'll inject 4.2mg (an 8MG dose). That works out to 7 doses per vial, which equals 7 weeks. That's fine. I'll also cap my vial usage at 90 days/3months.
