I began taking this for a cut after perimenopause weight gain, and now that I'm starting month 3 at 1mg/week, the mental changes have been striking. Before reta, my head never stopped — 24/7. It wasn't only food noise; it was everything noise. Racing thoughts, health anxiety, catastrophizing, rumination… it simply wouldn't switch off.

These days? That background chatter has mostly vanished. For the first time in years my mind is quiet, and I can really concentrate. The relentless anxiety and spiraling have dropped a lot. I truly wasn't expecting this. Losing weight is great, but for me the mental calm has been miraculous.

Originally I only intended to stay on reta for about 6 months, but after my cut finishes I'm seriously thinking about continuing a low 0.25mg dose long-term, purely to hold onto this peaceful feeling in my head.

Anyone else had this “brain finally got quiet” effect with reta? I've searched quite a bit and rarely see it brought up.

Food is where I saw it too. Eating used to be a problem for me and now it isn't. So the mental side is clearly real.

I'm only a short way into my reta cycle and my dose is still quite low, yet I've been asking myself if the small shift in my mood comes from reta or is simply chance. At night my thoughts won't slow down, and that is part of why getting to sleep and remaining asleep is difficult for me. These past two nights gave me the best rest I've had in quite a while, and when I got up I felt driven. It could be nothing more than chance, of course — I suppose the next few weeks will show whether it lasts.

I went through the identical situation. At first I assumed it was just placebo or me being hyped about starting a fitness and healthy eating plan, but 3.5 months later the feeling hasn't gone away. Stuff that used to keep me stuck in my head now just rolls right off me. Fingers crossed it stays this way!

For me it's only been food noise. If I'm fortunate, perhaps increasing the dose will quiet the other noise too. Happy that it's working for you. 👍

My mood has lifted. The repetitive thoughts have eased off. After that initial injection, I felt a rush of joy — as if a warm blanket fresh from the dryer had wrapped itself around me. Mmm. Perhaps I ought to go take another shot at this very moment...
