New Here, Looking to Restart GLP-1 Treatment

Yep, insurance makes no sense. When I first began, I qualified. Then the medication did its job and I dropped weight, so I was no longer in the obese category — which meant, according to them, I didn't qualify anymore!

So their logic seems to be: return to poor health, and perhaps you'll qualify once more. 😡

Going "Gray," as people call it, really appeals to me — no health insurance or Medicare in the picture, so we make our own choices, and it costs far less as well.

Transitioning to gray definitely comes with a learning curve. I'm genuinely glad you took charge of your own health by finding a medication that's been working for you. The US health insurance system is truly something else! Rather than preventing illness, they'd prefer to treat you once you're already sick—absurd!

As for testing, given where it's sourced from, I believe the reassurance would be worth it in your case. After testing, you'd be able to confirm whether your medicine is legitimate and dose it properly. From what I've heard anecdotally, "pharma grade" glp1 packs more punch than gray market, so your gray at your previous dose might not hit the same as your pharma dose. I'm not sure how accurate that is, so don't take my word for it! 😅

Yep. My a1c dropped, so I probably don't qualify anymore either. Still, with relatives who have it, years of being prediabetic, and gestational diabetes prior to an official diagnosis, this is something I'll deal with forever. They keep pulling us back and forth.

If you're thinking about switching from Zep to gray, there are reputable compounding pharmacies out there that might be a safer route than going fully gray. One thing I'd suggest getting up to speed on first is how to handle crypto transactions safely. You'll pick up a ton from a small forum right here 🙂 welcome! Also, since your body was already accustomed to a higher dose, you probably won't notice much ☘️

It really stinks that your insurance keeps turning you down. Fingers crossed that this community has an option that works for you!! Try not to be too hard on yourself — plenty of folks have gone through their own highs and lows. The journey isn’t a straight line 🙂

My 1st time buying on my own was "gray adjacent". 😉 (A reseller here in the US who turned out to be fairly decent for a kit.) I'm not sure I'll ever have the nerve to go all the way with the full gray/crypto path.

I'd toss that tirz you picked up. Testing it would run you more than the stuff is even worth. Going grey means you've got to learn the ropes beforehand. You aren't there yet. Stick around here longer, and use compounded in the meantime. A month at the very least is what it should take before you're set.

3 years on Tirz here-

There were a couple of times I paused it or switched to Reta, then returned.

That initial "Feeling" from when I first started Tirz never truly returned. It kept working, but I noticed I simply had less of a gut sense about it. Getting that "feel" back seemed to require a bit larger doses, although I'm not convinced the "feelings" and the weight loss are exactly 1=1
