These serve a purpose with glass ampoules, where you have to snap off the top of the glass. A needle equipped with a 5 micron filter lets the liquid be drawn out while keeping glass fragments from entering the needle. They do not provide sterile filtering. For sterile filtering, you need to use the filters Not_Your_Dad referred to.

Every glass ampoule I've come across (20 just in the last month) is OPC - one point cut - they carry a clear marking at the narrowest section of the neck - you put your thumb over the mark and then snap in the direction away from the marking. There aren't really any glass shards, and I've never filtered. Any glass fragments would definitely be too big to get stuck in my 25g needle, and any pieces would have roughly a 99.9% chance of ending up anywhere except inside the ampoule.

I included a few different options in my order that I came across positive feedback on: Humapen Ergo 2 and Mrs Goodlife. Now I'm just waiting on delivery

I'll kick things off with the Mrs Goodlife pen since I've come across positive feedback about it. For now it's just 1x weekly, but I'm a wimp when it comes to needles, so this route works best: it lets me pick some of the shortest, thinnest options (32g 4mm) and avoids the tip getting dull from drawing first. I'll share my thoughts once I've tried it

While going back through this thread, I came across this response. 3 weeks have passed since that point. How has it been for you up to now?

While going back through this thread, I came across this response. 3 weeks have passed since that point. How has it been for you up to now?

I don't have experience with any pens besides this one, but it was fine (aside from a bit of bruising when I moved from 5u up to 10u), though that's just how I am — I bruise very easily. First I apply lidocane to my skin, then I ice for roughly 30min.

1 other person uses their own in a different color of this pen, and then 1 uses a Humapen Ergo. My husband does the injecting for all of us (I'm a baby about it) and according to him they all behave identically. Every one has been smooth. Neither of the other 2 feels anything and they don't ice or do anything special. There's no blood and no bruising for them

It's been thighs, and he just tried 1 in the stomach and said he felt nothing
