Is anything coming out of China moving slower right now?

Is anyone else seeing problems getting things out of China, or parcels taking longer than they used to? One vendor shipment vanished from usps and the fed ex reship they sent still has not landed. From another vendor the usps label was created and then nothing for 10 days. No customs letters so far. I am just curious whether others are hitting this too — two years of ordering without a hitch, and now everything goes sideways at the same time.

I have not bought direct for 9 months. My last order showed up in no time. Since CNY, by all accounts, everything is moving slower.

Me the moment I placed my very first order

A status of label created with no movement means nothing has actually shipped. All that exists is a printed label sitting ready; the parcel has yet to be scanned anywhere in the network. Reliability varies a lot between sellers — some are rock solid, some less so. They may simply be swamped, or observing a holiday, or still waiting on a delivery of one of the items in your order.

After a week with no change, messaging them to ask whether there is a problem seems fair. With odd bulk-shipping plus local reship arrangements the tracking can look similarly stuck even when things are moving, but most of the time it genuinely has not been posted.

The full journey running anywhere between 1 week and 4 or 5 weeks is unremarkable. fed ex and usps generally beat most of the Chinese courier services. If the same seller keeps botching postage, finding another one may be the answer — though for most vendors, customer service was never near the top of their list.

A shipment of mine turned up in under a week. The one before that ran to three.

Two weeks is the usual turnaround for me, across two suppliers. The most recent one has sat at two weeks now with the tracking completely frozen.

I would not be so sure. Think how many temu and AliExpress parcels land every single day — the number has to be enormous.

Coming into Australia was genuinely quick...the weeks were all on the China end.

And my guess is that over half of what lands here originates in China — we are a nation of online shoppers ◡̈

Across 7 orders into Australia from china, the typical one ran a little under 3 weeks, some closer to 2 weeks, a few stretched past 3 weeks, and a single uther order showed up in 3 days.

Three days! That is wild!

Almost everything else I have ordered from China (nothing health related) lands inside a fortnight.

My seller is switching carriers for the next one, which should speed things up a bit — lucky me.

This strikes me as a usps problem — usps are hopeless. Only now, after two weeks, have they taken it into their system. Previously this vendor used a goho driver in a car to deliver, and it landed in about 7 days each time, which amazed me. Things out of China regularly arrived faster by that route than usps managed inside a us warehouse

That does not hold in every case, mate. One of my vendors hands over a tracking number that never produces a result — it simply stays at label created. The only update I ever get is delivered, and that arrives after the parcel is already in my hands. China to Belgium usually runs between 5 to 8 days. Tracking means nothing to me provided the package turns up safely.

Having worked as a transporter, I understand what it signifies, and it does not bother me

This time the shipment out of US Warehouse A (Portland, as I understand it) got a label created and has not budged since. It has been long enough that my suspicion is it was never actually stocked, and a China restock is what everyone is waiting on. Asking about it produced silence.

Could live tracking itself be the unsafe part? A tracking number alone is enough proof for you, should it never turn up.

Could live tracking itself be the unsafe part? A tracking number alone is enough proof for you, should it never turn up.

My point was about a shipping delay possibly signalling that the US warehouse has nothing on hand and CN is where it ships from instead
