Hi everyone,
I came across a topic about healthy living while scrolling on Reddit.
That is how I discovered this forum exists, and it also opened my eyes to the fact that Ozempic is not the only option out there!
Let me introduce myself as a true ravebaddie. I am 40 years old, married, have 2 kids, and I am getting back into the rave scene. Psytrance and Hard Techno of all kinds are what I love dancing to.
Since the early age of 14 I have been obese. My classmates began eating things other than what they had brought from home, and I followed suit. Sadly, my metabolism digests alllll the calories from my food very very efficiently, so while my classmates did not gain weight, I did. Extremely frustrating.
For my whole life, this led to a struggle to keep a healthy weight.
About 12 years ago, when I met my now husband, I weighed roughly 115kg and was familiar with every sort of diet and everything about nutrition. Over about 3 years, my boyfriend watched me lose 30kg and put it back on again several times, as I tried out different kinds of diets involving pills / homeopathic drops / fasting / Slim-Fast / illegal stuff.
As a result, when I was over 130kg and no longer able to ty my shoelaces myself, with my boyfriend having to do it for me, I became depressed. Every morning and night I cried and told him to leave me and find a more fit girlfriend to have children with. Ofcourse he stayed
Despite my weight-issues, he loves me, and he has done nothing but support my diets and my attempts to live a healthy life. He knows his own metabolism is completely different and that he has never had any big weight issues.
Since my body had become a big problem for me in daily activities, I went to my doctor and explained the situation.
This led to starting a process to have bariatric surgery.
After 1,5 years of psychological sessions, group sessions and a physical check, my gastric sleeve surgery took place in December of 2016.
At my heaviest I was 143,5kg with a height of 176cm. BMI over 40...
In the years that followed the surgery, I lost 43kgs. For me it has been a life saver. And we were able to have 2 beautiful children and even got married!
But now in 2026, after 10 years of living with my 'tinier stomach', losing more weight is a struggle. Currently I am 101kg and still obese.
My body has changed, but my mind is still the same - that is my main concern.
Preparing food for family and friends is still something I like to do, and I live a Bourgondic lifestyle.
If only my interest in eating were less!
So I have joined this forum to learn more about the possibilities for getting healthier and no longer being obese.
Not being obese anymore and fitting into a size L instead of an XL is a great dream for me.
