Hey everyone! I figured I'd drop in and say hello since I'm brand new.

The newbie rules gave me a good chuckle when I went through them 🤭

Alright, a bit about me…. Originally I'm from VA, but these days I live in NC. PCOS has been part of my story, and my weight has fluctuated forever. There were periods where I felt amazing in my own skin, and other stretches where I avoided going outside at all. I haven't given the glp's a shot yet, but my curiosity is high and I'm hoping to dig through the info here and learn what I can. Insulin resistance is something I deal with, and I'm sitting in the prediabetic range. Metformin is what I'm on right now. My doctor has attempted twice to get my insurance to cover a GLP, and both attempts were denied. At the same time, my doctor tells me that given my metabolic issues, prediabetes, PCOS etc etc, I'd be a great candidate. The US healthcare and insurance system honestly baffles me. Why deny me something that might keep me from reaching the point of actual diabetes? Why not let me work on my health right now? Smh. So anyway, my HRT doctor brought up a newer drug called Retatrutide and said I'd be the perfect candidate for it, and I was like awesome, sign me up. Then she tells me it isn't available yet 😒 So yeah….here I am. Or, as that rules post put it ….you. know. why. I'm. here.

2 things I should mention: getting through 60,000 post feels a bit overwhelming, but I'm giving it a try 🥺 and ngl, some of the post read like a completely different language to me lol.

On top of that, I'm still figuring out how to get around the forum, and I feel like my 75 year old mom trying to work her remote 😂

So, if anyone could steer me toward the best spot to begin reading / learning etc. for someone who knows nothing at this point, that'd be great.

So yeah, that's a little bit about me (maybe TMI, idk but if so, my bad) thanks for having me & I look forward to meeting some of you. ✌️😎

Glad you're here. About a year back I was told I have diabetes, so I take metformin, and insurance turned me down for glp even though I met the criteria. So I get where you're coming from. That's why I went with reta on my own, and my a1c has now dropped to 5.3. For years I'd been prediabetic, plus I had a gestational diabetes result fairly recently(2 yrs ago). So I understand. I hope this place has what you're after. But you definitely seem like a person I'd click with! I'd enjoy talking with you more

Hey there! Another North Carolinian checking in ❤️ It's great to spot folks from around here. I'm still working my way through everything I can read. About 9 months on Tirz at this point, and I'm just starting maintenance... or really, my goal for this coming year is to keep from putting anything back on, which has happened before. I've dropped weight so many times over the years, and I'm simply ready to come out on top... to find the healthiest version of myself and do whatever it takes to feel better. Best of luck with your digging!

I keep flip-flopping between wanting to use something as an aid and attempting to handle it solo. I suppose it's mostly a mental thing. The unfortunate reality is that throughout it all, I only end up more annoyed and putting on more weight 😭

What do you think you might give a shot? Has the reta been doing its job for you? As for me, tirzepatide is what I'm taking...appetite suppression is something I truly need. A few vials of Reta are tucked away in my freezer...saved for a day when my current approach stops doing the trick. The compounded version is what I use...though a stash is also sitting in my freezer for...some day down the road.
