Hi all,
I'm 37 and over the last 6-7 years I've dropped roughly 140 pounds. I went from 320 down to 180, mainly by watching what I eat and working out.
During the past 2-3 years, though, shedding the final 20 pounds or so to hit my target weight has gotten harder and harder. For about 6-7 years I've been eating at a deficit, but any time I spend more than 3-4 days eating above that deficit, my weight shoots up (for instance, gaining 10-15 pounds within a week), and getting back to my previous weight takes months, while the amount of weight I can lose while at a deficit keeps getting slower. Over the last year I've stayed between 180-173 and have never managed to get below that. This is even with a consistent gym schedule of at least an hour a day and meticulously weighing and tracking everything I eat. I think I'm metabolically stuck and that my body has adjusted to the low calorie intake, which makes losing weight really difficult. After 6-7 years of always eating at a deficit and paying close attention to my weight, I'm also worn out and don't feel like I can do much more in a meaningful way.
I'm considering taking reta in the hope that it can meaningfully shift my metabolism and let me finally lose the last 20 pounds as I get ready for surgery to remove the excess skin.
