How long do Group Buys usually take?

I haven't taken part in a group buy so far, and I'm wondering what a typical timeline looks like. I realize it can differ from case to case — if you feel like it, you could also mention the shortest and longest waits you've had after paying. Since I normally receive my orders within 3 days, I'd like to know what to expect so I can plan ahead for the wait.

When I order from China, the typical wait is about 2 weeks.

When it comes to an actual group buy, you should expect a minimum of 4-6 weeks. My own approach is to always budget for a two-month timeframe.

The bright side is that after that long, whatever I bought will have slipped my mind entirely, so opening it will feel like a gift. 😆

My wild hypothesis: group buys appeal to folks who have a partner or spouse, since it staggers when shipments show up. A package going missing in transit beats a spouse who's counting how many deliveries arrive each month.

With a GB group you can trust, two big dangers stand out:

1) The Chinese vendor vanishes, like what happened with SRY, SSA, and QSC (or another vendor meltdown)

2) The package gets lost or damaged on its way from the domestic GB operator/vendor to you

Because of that, I usually stick with GB groups offering in-stock items, unless something is significantly cheaper or tougher to source.

That theory might actually have something to it! 🤣

Mod Zippity wrote a really solid post some time back that cuts through much of the buzz around gb’s. If a vendor is advertising it on their own site as a gb, then it’s simply another one of their promos. As for most of the others, those are people positioning themselves as neo-vendors while presenting themselves as Group Promotion Vendor’s.

Unless you’re part of a group you trust, there’s a lot of risk involved. The last one I was in had plenty of drama. Eventually the order arrived. It took 4 months.

Good luck.

Appreciate the details, I went through that as well. Since it seemed like a solid group based on everything I came across and they run various GBs, I joined the TG for a GB. The one happening right now doesn't interest me, though I'll certainly take a look down the road. I'm not trying to be cryptic—it's just such a pain having to revise what I write to strip out the company names 😂

A pen GB was offered previously and could come back. Pens are only something I use when traveling, so grabbing a few as a cheap GB seemed like it might be enjoyable, meaning less risk.

When it comes to peptides, certain GBs even offer half kits. I remember my initial GB being a half kit of T20 that cost around $50. The one instance where I actually dropped a significant amount, roughly $300, was on in-stock reta.

I'd plan on 1-3 months, and maybe more if something comes up.

The buy stays open until the negotiated quota of kits is reached and every payment has come in. Once the Group Promotion Vendor has been paid in full, the vendor begins bottling at some point, and then there's all the shipment logistics chaos, which can sometimes involve intentionally splitting things across boxes so that a single interception doesn't take out $100K in one go. After that it goes to Czechia for testing, and then final distribution.

A lifetime..... I participated in 1. Payment was made in November. The initial shipment got stopped by Customs and never came through. At last it reached the Group Promotion Vendor, and it has now been sent our way before going on to Jano. Should it fail to meet the guarantee, I don't even want to consider what comes next. Right now it's just sitting in my freezer. I won't put a label on it until I find out what's inside. I'm not doing this again any time soon.

To me, Group Buys just don't make sense. Saving $20-$50 isn't enough to justify it - definitely not worth it. The wait might stretch on endlessly, or it might never come through, or what shows up might not match what was ordered, and...and...and.....

In my view, going after the lowest price just burns time, money, and emotional energy.

That said, I've got years' worth of tirz, survo, and tesa backed by 3P COAs, and the other peps don't appear to do anything for me, so I probably won't need to give a GB any thought for quite a while.

I appreciate you breaking that down. It clears up why certain vendor promotions get labeled as “GB.”

Yeah, sellers throw that phrase around just to drum up business. Same as most of their sales pitch, it means nothing—just empty noise. What vendors call a group buy isn't a group buy in any real sense.

For a big peptide purchase, I doubt I'd ever feel at ease going that route. Plus, waiting around isn't my strong suit most of the time 😅 A pen GB could be worth trying since it's cheap and I don't truly need them.

Thanks to all of you for the replies—this clears things up and makes it easier to tell an actual group buy apart from vendors simply slapping the label on for promotion, etc.

As an aside, domestic (last-leg) delivery has been trouble-free for me, with one exception: USPS Ground Advantage shipments sometimes wander around the country before arriving. Because of that, I now pick anything other than USPS Ground Advantage whenever I can:

2026 Shipping Reliability Comparison: Lost & Damage Rates

Detailed Description of Rates:

UPS Ground (The Corporate Standard): Currently the industry leader in reliability. Because they use an integrated network of company employees rather than contractors, there is higher accountability and fewer "hand-offs" where packages typically go missing or get crushed.

FedEx Ground (The Independent Variable): Reliability fluctuates by region because FedEx Ground operates via independent contractors. While often fast, "mis-delivery" and "lost at terminal" rates are slightly higher than UPS.

USPS Priority (The Fast Lane): Uses "Priority-only" sorting lanes and more air transport. This reduces the number of physical "touches" by roughly 25% compared to Ground Advantage, significantly lowering the risk of damage.

USPS Ground Advantage (The Economy Risk): These packages spend the most time in regional hubs and on long-haul trucks. This "exposure time" is the primary driver for its higher loss/damage rates.

I joined a gb on 11/30 and picked up two kits of Epitalon. Early January is when they arrived, but weeks passed before any testing was done. The results showed an underfill of nearly 25%. Our group could either take an extra 5mg kit as compensation, or hold out for a while and receive 10mg kits instead, while keeping the underfilled ones either way. So the replacement kits are still waiting to ship. I'm not upset about it, since once they arrive I'll end up with noticeably more than I thought I was getting at the time of the original order. That said, if this whole thing disappears overnight, I'd look pretty foolish.

Hearing this makes me feel better about what could go down when the CoA doesn't look good under the GB's terms. Nobody ever gave me a straight answer about the outcome when guarantees aren't met. This thing started back in November, and by the time it wraps up I'll be retired. The product only went out for testing this week—or possibly the one before.

What kind of compensation you get depends completely on what the vendor and the GB organizer decide to do, how they act, and how well they can make their case. Even if testing produces bad results, nothing is actually guaranteed.
