Knowing your height, age, and goal weight would help a lot here. If your goal weight is close, then slow progress makes more sense than if you still have another 50 pounds to lose. That context is really what decides whether you should adjust the dose or switch compounds. And how fast are you losing right now? Nothing at all? 1lb per week?
Losing 20 lbs over 6 months on a decent reta dose is likely below average. The cjc makes this a bit murkier since it will lead to some fluid retention, and if muscle is being added, the scale will move less. So after starting it, I would figure the numbers on the scale would have slowed.
If I am reading this right, you dealt with skin sensitivity and insomnia as side effects, but at 6mg those are no longer an issue. My hunch is that if reta gives you a somewhat weaker response than most people get, then tirz would be more likely than not to do the same for you, though there is no way to know without trying. Reta does cause more weight loss than tirz, but comes with a slightly higher rate of side effects. The typical reason people move to tirz is reta-specific side effects such as heart rate increases or skin sensory problems, or to quiet food noise, though that last one has never fully added up to me since reta produces more weight loss, meaning it must cut food intake at least as much as tirz, even when you account for reta's glucagon agonism raising energy expenditure.
My advice would be to simply move up to 8mg. If 6mg gave you troublesome side effects that have since calmed down, you could instead step to 7mg for a few weeks so the jump is gentler. If raising the dose is not something you can tolerate, then switching could make sense. Tirz might work out well, but if I had to guess, there is a decent chance you would also need doses above average.
