Has anyone here tried putting reconstituted tirzepatide into pen cartridges and then freezing them? In theory, I figure a pen cart and a vial ought to behave the same way when frozen, though I'm not certain.

Leaving some air in the cart before freezing, so there's room for expansion, would probably be the smarter move. That said, with a pen cart the stopper isn't crimped in place the way it is on a vial, so as a container for freezing it might not be ideal.

Another option: reconstitute it, freeze it in a standard vial, thaw it out when needed, and then load the thawed tirz into the pen cart. That's just one extra step I was hoping to skip.

Thanks — the link and the willingness to help were much appreciated, that was kind of you. My actual question was whether putting already-reconstituted tirzepatide into a pen cartridge and freezing it is fine, compared with using a vial, since it would cut out a step for me. Still, I figure a vial is probably the safer route in the end. I do know tirzepatide is able to be frozen.

Yes, expansion will happen. You should be okay provided the cart isn't overfilled (so the stopper won't be pushed out). That said, my own practice would be to reserve this for Tirz and keep cycles down to 1. It likely only makes sense if you plan to store it for 90 days or longer.

Appreciate it! I suspected there might be a bit of expansion and that the stopper could shift, hence my question. My intention was to do this solely with tirz for 1 freeze/thaw cycle. Perhaps I'll simply keep it in the fridge and be done with it. I had no plans to store it frozen for an extended period.

Same question has been on my mind! There was a cart I'd filled and then didn't need for a stretch, but because I wasn't sure, I passed it along to another person rather than risk wasting it.

Reconstituting everything in one go and then freezing the carts would be ideal, but the possibility of all of them blowing out and losing the whole batch holds me back. My thought was to leave some air space so expansion has room, though I also wondered whether that gap might create a way for something to creep in

I do freeze cartridges. My precaution is to leave them at no more than 2/3 capacity (likely a higher fill would also work), and I remove every air bubble prior to freezing, so that if the stopper gets pushed backward by expansion, it will not pop out. I have frozen them without taking those steps too, and no stopper has been lost.

So you've really gone ahead and done it — good to hear none of them ran into trouble. Since that leaves the cart only 1/2 full, do you figure 1.5ml will do the job? With my Tirz 30 (tested at 34mg), I'd like to bring the volume down; last time I used 2ml, but I want to drop to 1.5 in case I end up having to increase again 🙂

Yes, check this out. I opened my freezer a moment ago to take a look. There's a cart of klow sitting in there, completely full, that I stuck in and then totally forgot about until this second. Next to it is a survo cart that's half full, since I've moved over to reta for the time being and have no use for it at the moment. As far as I can tell, the stopper on both of them is still where it was.

Fantastic!! I really appreciate it!! This is wonderful to hear!! When I reconstitute next time, I'll fill carts from kits. That way my remaining Hospira doesn't go to waste, (all the more since I began at a low dose & each cart will last me a while). Thanks as well for the picture!! I'm grateful you took the time!! 🙂

I really appreciate it! Hearing this gives me a lot of hope.

Appreciate it. Your input really helped.

Out of interest, does the same trick work for other peps such as tesa or ghk-cu?
I'm also wondering about this. I put together a combination of BPC / TB / KPV for someone in my family, and it would be convenient to make them in advance and pull them out of the freezer whenever needed...
