Hey hey, I've been on reta for nearly a month now. My doses went 0.5, 1.0, 1.0. This Sunday is my 4th shot, and I'm staying at 1.0mg. I get that it needs to build up in your system and that it's obviously a gradual thing, but yeah — no weight lost so far.

I'm not banking on some miracle. With the heatwaves in France, going out for walks to hit 10k steps a day has been impossible. There is some appetite suppression for me, and it's been a learning curve to actually listen to it and not eat when I genuinely don't feel like it😅

Anyway, I'm just wondering whether others — especially women — also saw little weight loss in month 1, then had better results in the months that followed?

I get why folks stick with such small doses — I did the exact same early on. That said, the actual trials had participants beginning at 2mg. Everyone can choose for themselves, but my take is: if nothing is happening, raise it to the trial starting dose and adjust from there.

The other piece is how much you eat. Without a calorie deficit, weight won't come off. Even at 12mg of Reta, if your intake still exceeds maintenance, the scale won't move — that's simply not possible. Tracking calories precisely makes a huge difference.

In my own case, Reta feels like a miracle drug, though that doesn't make it magic.

Not trying to be rude, but 2mg held for 4 weeks is where I would go - most people report 4 mg is the point it starts doing something.

Yeah, that basically settles it.

Feeling even a bit of appetite reduction means it's doing its job. What you still need is to reach the dose you require.

After you get there, avoiding overeating does become simpler, but keeping an eye on your calories is still important—even a loose count, with occasional strict days, helps you confirm you aren't exceeding your target by much.

During weeks 2 to 3 I gave 1.5mg a shot, and it made me throw up, bile included 😅. So yeah, taking it slow is my preference; I'll give it another go in about 2 weeks.

The lowest dose that does the job is 4 mg.

A better phrasing would be:

4 mg is a frequently used therapeutic dose.

Claiming 4 mg is the minimum therapeutic dose isn't backed up by the clinical data we have.

In the trials, a dose-response pattern appeared.... generally, larger doses produced more weight loss, yet no clear threshold existed where 4 mg all at once turned into the point where losing weight starts working. Many participants experienced real appetite reduction and weight loss while on lower doses.

That said, it's quite possible the OP needs a bigger dose.... But since some appetite suppression is already showing up at 1mg.....that leaves it uncertain, maybe yes, maybe no.

@Cluni0n Taking it easy and ramping up gradually is what suits me; pay attention to what your body tells you. Should a single weekly injection feel like too much, you could divide the dose into 2x/wk - I picked up that approach from a post on here. When 4.0mg was more than my body could handle, I started splitting it, and now 2.0mg taken 2x/wk is going smoothly. Through IF, LCHF keto and light workout, I've also been dropping roughly 2lbs each wk. Since beginning in late December, I'm down 20+ lbs.
