Feeling Misled About Reta

Building up takes a while, and prior GLP1 use can mean either a larger dose is necessary or more time is needed for it to accumulate in your body.

My first Reta dose was 0.5mg, dosed once every 3 days. On day 1, not much happened. I took the following dose 2 days afterward, and then noticed a mild effect that made dieting easier. Now in week 2, appetite suppression is strong: high protein foods go down without trouble, yet I land in a 600-1000 calorie deficit, and reaching only a 400-500 cal deficit would require eating to the point of near sickness.

One odd detail: the evening before the next dose, eating feels simpler. After dosing, I immediately notice being very full. So with this more frequent schedule, the half life plus the peaks and dips are quite noticeable. I considered raising the dose and switching to every other day, but weekly dosing is coming soon because I have 8 days of travel, then 12 hrs back, then 5 days of travel. My plan is 1.5mg ahead of the 8 day trip, then 1mg ahead of the 5 day trip, then return to 0.5 every 3 days.

At midday we now only have a protein shake, then for dinner we eat something fairly standard. Protein of some kind—beef, pork, chicken or fish—plus perhaps cottage cheese, a steamed vegetable, or something along those lines. Having that shake at lunch has changed things a lot. I used to be full going into dinner and had no appetite.

Two weeks in at 2mg, and my hunger is worse than it has ever been! It's as though I got sent the reverse of reta.

That's Reta, correct? For me, nothing happened until I hit about 6 or 8.... at this point I'm taking 10mg every 6 days and there isn't much appetite suppression, so I've added 1mg of sema. That combination works for me. Still, I'd move up to 4mg by week 3, even though plenty of people will claim they needed 14 years to titrate up to 4mg. Then someone else will pop in saying they dropped 80lbs on .5 mg and never titrated at all. I'm not the cautious type, just a little dumb (book smart, life choices not so much). You have to do what works for you. What's the worst that could happen? Feeling nauseous for 3 days? Sure, somebody will bring up acute pancreatitis.... not from 4mg of reta though... best of luck and try not to get frustrated.

Even without any help with food noise, the weight still came off, right?

To give some background: I was on Mounjaro for 7 months. For 4 of those months I held at 5 mg, then moved up to 10 mg. Appetite suppression never hit me hard. What it did do was make it easier to turn down late night snacks, and I had no side effects whatsoever.

All told, I dropped 30 kilos, going from 30 percent body fat down to 18 percent. During the past 2 months, though, 7 kilos came back.

My plan is to begin with 3 mg early in the week, then add 1 mg toward the end of the week in case nothing seems to be happening.
