Recently I entered some GBs that are higher risk gambles (non-Uther Elora buys & GBs I’m new to) so I’ve been checking out the announcements to monitor the situation. The fanboys/girls/folks there are kind of blowing my mind. All this excessive praise and trust, like “X is our MAN! He always pulls through! He’s the best! He can do no wrong! He is our LEADEEERRRR!!” It kind of gives me the culty-creeps. I mean, these are only people who are doing a business. They’re subject to the whims of customs, vendors and shipping companies just like everyone else. But the users are giving this guy almost supernatural powers!

I’ve also seen (not here) people go absolutely bananas over certain vendors, like Uther, Nextaph and Lobster. (I’ve also seen people here who have said that these three all have big, sometimes annoying personalities.)

I have 3 GBs that are my main ones. I will pass on their links to people I know/like (don’t DM me for GBs unless we’ve talked before please!) and think the organizers are competent and reliable, and I appreciate extra touches or work they do when shipping or when a buy goes sideways, but I’m not going all 1960s-girls-screaming-for-the-Beatles over them. I’ve noticed ”my” groups also don’t have the extreme fan behavior other groups seem to.

I don’t really get the people who are so loyal and full of excessive praise for GB. organizers and vendors. Maybe it’s cuz I’m generally not a joiner, maybe it’s because I am a fan of generics (if a product gets the job done, that’s good enough for me)!

Have you guys seen this extreme fan behavior in the peptide space? What do you think about it?

Absolutely! I've only bought from a couple of GBs, but they're much more focused on the nuts-and-bolts. Well, one gets so creative that it requires extreme mental energy to figure out what he's even talking about, but other than that!

I've followed dozens for a wait-and-see because I'm figuring out my own next steps. Too many of them seem to put all their effort into cutesy AI-generated graphics which all look the same anyway and require careful scrutiny to glean any relevant info from. Some are all about including stickers or other junk (including candy!) with the orders, or raffles for things the winner probably doesn't want. And the unbearable chatter in the buy channels, the moronic meme volleys that never end.

I don't get it. At all.

So yes, I'd be delighted if you'd DM those three which you like!!!😆

I could be wrong but my impression of TG in general (home to a lot of Gb) is that the demographics skews wildly toward the younger crowd. Thus the AI crap, rah rah cheerleading, etc.

Show me a group buy run by a 65 year old, I'd be all over that!

I’m following a couple GB-related threads on here and honestly keeping up with it all sounds like such a hassle. I don’t think I buy enough to justify it just for the deals. I do like the idea of non-vendor testing, but that’s about it in terms of benefits. Having to put up with fanboy behavior sounds like another entry in the negative column.

Nice writeup Cat!....I kinda like the used car lot feel of the sales... 😎 But I "can't even" muddle through all fanboi postings...I have been on TG for a while, but as you know, new to the GB hoopla...I was today's years old (maybe yesterday's years old) before I learned you can just click the 'pinned messages' header at the top of the discussion window to scroll to the "meat" of the buy....😎

I don't really pay attention to all that. I am currently a participant in about 4-5 group buys, and trolling a few others to look for the right deals and peps I want or want to try. I just check the updates and don't really pay much mind to the other chatter. I'm just in it for the product and the deals for peps I can wait for or want to stockpile.

Yes, 100%. I just want my product, man! But some of these GBs are so disorganized and don’t do a good job pinning messages or naming their channels…you have to wade through 300 dumb-ass comments just to find an update. I’m glad I found my chosen few that are reliable and organized. I got super swept up in Elora Fever so went beyond my normal sources—it’s a headache, and one entirely of my own doing.

OMG the raffles stress me out. I don’t even try to participate in them, but it still causes me stress!

I’m an Elder Millennial and used to design (sh*tty) HTML webpages as a teen, grew up with the internet and had social media as a young adult, but I just cannot manage all the chatter, neediness, confusion, in-fighting (WTH???) in the comments.

OMG YES!!! This is the best idea I’ve seen this week! Give me a GB. organizer who is retiree with the skills to sort their 401Ks, IRAs and Medicare, and who has no time for BS!

Most of us "older folks" have evolved using the internet for over 40 years, and many of the kids think we can't manage tech! 🙄

LOL I would too, although he has waaaay too much on his plate I’m sure managing this herd of cats! I know one thing, if Zippity managed a GB, we would know the base price of the product, all the deets about costs for shipping, his cut, etc. And he DEFS has no time for BS! 🤣

Zippity repeatedly has warned about potential pitfalls and scams in the Group Buy world

meh - people just get excited about getting their goodies. It's their way of keeping the Group Promotion Vendor doing his job with enthusiasm. They will turn on them fast and furious the minute things go sideways even a little.

The impression is really an illusion created in any group discussion. Too many clamoring voices. Our brains are not used to hearing so many voices at the same time.

Wow - I typed in G B O and the forum automatically replaced it with an expansion it thinks is more appropriate - like this Group Promotion Vendor (G B O).

I always figured people get mad if you dis the vendor they think is "really good" because you're actually attacking their illusion of safety.

If I think my one gb or vendor is very good, the best of all of them, then I feel safe to order my stuff from there and I sure do like feeling safe in a risky space. If you come along and say that GB is shit or that vendor is falling off and getting sloppy, you're threatening whether or not I can feel secure in my own actions. Because if you're right and my GB/vendor isn't as good as I believed it was, then I'm no longer "safe." And because I'm a people, I get mad at you for that.

I’ve only found 1 GB that I have given my money to. I had been searching the internet for this specific GB cause of the low chat I heard about it, and the positive things. With all the horror stories of people running off with $ and all this scamy stuff and whatnot, I really can’t relax about any buys ever, let alone fan over someone who’s turning a profit or doing something that also benefits themselves. It’s not altruistic 🤣. Fanning is weird to me. I probably also operate under extreme caution and apprehension cause I don’t wanna lose my damn money 🤣

I have to see how I feel when I get my products. I’ve considered placing an order with a vendor next….we shall see. 💕

I'm not in GB's but I see this type of behavior through the pep space and honestly it's really weird. Why are you 100% trusting someone you don't know. This is how so many individuals become traumatized from one bad experience. "I was jipped from a GB so NEVER AGAIN". Blindly trusting business stakeholders in the grey market knowing there's limited to no legal avenue to get your money back is a strange thing to do. I'm not saying GB's are not good, they absolutely are but if you don't know the owner directly than always remain cautious.

That’s a good point - even though it’s easy to get a bit blasé, we’re still in a gray market without a lot of buyer protections, and people drop BANK in this market, way more than I ever could. (I’ve seen pics people share of entire closets full of kits for their personal use.) That feeling of safety in our suppliers certainly is something we cling on to.

Fair point. I’ve certainly read about GBs having a bad turning point on AI Regurgitation Station (hah, another forum autocorrect, very warranted though—reading it is an exercise in patience, and her AI needs tips from mine about how to make writing engaging!) and how buyers flip the switch from love to hate quick. I guess I’ve just never understood the need to cheerlead a businessperson. They are making money off of these buys, after all!

Yes yes and yes! Now, there is not a cult doc I know of that I haven’t seen! I LOVE CULTS!—well, rather I love watching about them and being fascinated with the psychology and getting aghast at the horror and despair. But just like drama, I like it best when I’m not a participant! I am always learning lessons in this space, and avoiding the culty GBs is now another lesson I’ve learned. Goddamn Elora! Her siren song made my decision making powers go haywire! 🤣

It does seem like they all have some of those elements Housecat but some are worse than others with the 'cult' aspect.🐸

It's the endless inane chatter and memes that drive me crazy. Just please give me an automated link with order feedback and status.

And I will definitely try any brand new Group Promotion Vendor with a clean order process, great communication, decent prices, and minimal inane chatter. Thanks and good luck Fiona.
