Epithalon and me

Wanting better sleep — and specifically to stop relying on benadryl every night, so that @woundcarping doesn't accuse me of deliberately courting dementia — plus the goal of living...longer, I picked up a kit of sermorelin and a kit of epithalon.

Because my plan is to go through the entire sermorelin kit (.33mg per night, 5mg kit, which works out to a 5 month cycle), that's the one I began with. Ran it about 5 days before I layered in the epithalon. Sleep didn't get any better. Actually it got worse, since I wasn't taking Benadryl.

Then I added epithalon. I had researched... everything. Or at least a lot. I went in knowing this was a low dose protocol. My intention was .5mg for 20 days per month.

I dropped off to sleep far quicker and with less effort. Sleep quality was really good. Top 5% for my demographic in both deep and rem sleep.

But my resting heart rate also jumped 5bpm overnight. My watch was not happy about that. The following night, another 5bpm, so +10 total. By the third night it leveled off, yet still sat 10bpm above baseline resting heart rate. Higher than what reta pushed my rhr to.

So the next night I halved the dose. Heart rate came down 3bpm. Sleep still great. Last night I held at .25mg, and heart rate dropped again. Sleep is still excellent.

I'll stay at .25mg for 21 days (came across a study just this morning). Then I'll cycle off, and probably run it again every three or four months, depending on how long my the takes to come back down.

I am very very much hoping the sleep improvements stick around.

From what I gather, the hr increase ties back to the epithalon boosting activity in the pineal gland. My guess is that's why plenty of people on the higher dose protocols report it does nothing or actually worsens their sleep.

But what do I know?

Oh, eta, yeah, sermorelin makes me hold water. Weight hasn't budged since I started it, minor joint stiffness in wrists, knee, and lower back. Dropped a little weight this morning. The water retention and joint stiffness were both expected, and they're exactly why I put off trying it months ago. Being near goal, I'm less bothered or worried about this effect, which is supposed to fade.

That's really helpful information. When you inject the Epi, do you do it in the evening or the morning? I'm about to begin some research on Epi because I want to improve my sleep.

💯 Evening. I take both 30min to 1hr ahead of when I'm actually heading off to sleep. "Fasted", or whatever you'd call it when a glp is in the mix but the last meal was two or three hours back. Inside that half hour, I can feel sleep starting to arrive. I'm aware some folks pin in the morning, though I couldn't tell you the reason for the life of me, and the main reason I'm doing this is the sleep benefits anyway

Really good to hear, and there's a lot to take from it. My sleep has gotten better but it's still not good, and I'm on a stack that's pretty close to yours. I've also been considering pinning the way you do it — 2-3 hours after a meal, which lands about 30-60minutes before I head to bed.

That's interesting. I've got DSIP, Epithalon and Ipamorelin sitting here, and I haven't given any of them a try yet. Which one do you think I should begin with? My sleep is terrible. Falling asleep is usually fine, but at 3:00 I'm awake.

I found it interesting that when I took 500mcg of epi every night, my RHR didn't change at all. There were some moderate gains in sleep (though I already sleep fairly well). My plan was to use it again, at minimum once every quarter.

Could that be due to the fact that you're a bigger, younger guy?

My suggestion would be to do a single cycle of each one separately, since that lets you see what each does on its own. I gave dsip nasal spray a shot, and my sleep didn't improve. That being said, I began it only a short time after starting reta, so the dsip probably didn't get a fair chance. Both that one and selank I used as a nasal spray, and that delivery method just wasn't for me. Sub-q is how I'd try both of them for sure. One of these days I'll finally do it.

And at this point you're obligated to come back and share your results 😂

Thanks a lot, I'll definitely check back in. Right now I need to finish this ss-31 and Mots-c stack before anything else.
