For me, it's the exact reverse. During my first 59 years I never set foot in a gym, and now I go every single day.

My guess is that your signature might not be helping your case. I have no clue why you were changed in the first place, but generally the admin doesn't like comments of that sort (at least that's what I've seen historically).SoCalGirl said:

I wrote nearly the same thing myself, then erased it for whatever reason. Still, one thing is certain: if I were ever going to go as far as injecting grey market drugs from China, I would have backed that decision up with action!Skidude said:
Honestly, I thought that if I was going to be injecting myself, it only made sense to do whatever I could to make it work.
Right away I began taking daily walks and built up from 6k to more than 10k per day, and I also became far more active in other areas of my life.
Sure, everyone is different, but I'm not convinced they talked to the right people.

I can relate to this. That said, things have improved for me now that I'm in maintenance and have begun reducing my reta dosage.spanky2026 said:
My guess is that it comes from a mix of anhedonia and abruptly consuming fewer calories, which then drags down overall energy levels.

A recent study reports that GLP-1 users show a worsening pattern of physical activity—put another way, they become too inactive to exercise sufficiently.

GLP-1 users may be making a major weight-loss mistake, new study suggests
Researchers analyzed data from 753 people with obesity who initiated a GLP-1 medication.nypost.com
The study was retrospective and observational, meaning it could only display an association, not a direct cause. The participants were also mostly middle-aged women, which could limit the scope of who is most impacted, the researchers noted.
Other factors that were not measured include exercise habits before starting treatment, motivation levels and guidance from a physician.

Back when my mother was in her 60s, she started using an app that had her doing 7 minutes of HIIT each day. Within a few months she'd built arms that could rival Michelle Obama's! I was genuinely impressed!spanky2026 said:
Hey, any of us Seniors on a GLP who are reading this — good news: according to science, you only need FOUR MINUTES of exercise per day! I'm fully on board with this study.

My advice is to seek out physical activities you actually enjoy. Lifting weights and doing cardio can often feel like a chore.Torque said:
Unfortunately, my drive to work out is completely gone. I've dropped a lot of weight, and my blood pressure and other things look better, but I wish I could find the motivation to return to the gym for some cardio. I never liked it, though I stuck with it before because I was constantly trying to shed pounds. On top of that, anhedonia has set in, which is frustrating for other areas of my life at times. Luckily, it is beginning to fade, even if very slowly.
You're obviously correct — my wording was a bit careless and just followed how people commonly talk. I certainly don't mean to judge anyone or undermine them. We're all in this together, and I'm sorry for how that came across.GLiPtest said:
When you eat fewer calories, your baseline metabolism drops. That's the body conserving energy during a shortage. It's an evolved human response, and it makes complete sense given that chronic food scarcity and starvation were the norm until very recently. Calling it "lazy" is just trying to attach a moral judgment to a biological process.
