Do you monitor your daily step count?

Do you keep an eye on your daily steps outside of your planned workouts? For instance, if you've already hit 10k steps today, would you reduce your cardio somewhat?

For me, I likely would.

I'm confident I hit 10k or more every day. I wear a fitness tracker, but I hardly ever actually "check" it.

I'm curious why you'd reduce your steps if you're already reaching 10k? More is better!

My daily targets aren't very ambitious, so reaching 10k steps already counts as a small victory in my book. Once I've hit that number, I tend to dial down the cardio at the gym somewhat, though my weight training stays exactly as it is. I suppose I'm simply not the super intense workout type lol.

Definitely. My watch logs quite a few metrics for me, and that has come in handy both before and after starting peptides — especially now that I'm adding in more assorted peps.

My usual daily target is about 14k steps.

Since sitting in my chair is what happens whenever I'm not walking, getting extra steps in is always the better choice for my health.

The real pitfall comes when I do a morning run, see 5k-10k steps recorded on my watch... and then find that same number there at night. You need to stay aware and avoid parking yourself on the couch for the remainder of the day

Since I started my GLP journey, I've given a few fitness trackers a go — both apps and watches — but right now I don't wear any of them. The data just didn't do much for me, either as information or as motivation. 🤷 I suppose what motivates people varies from one person to the next. Day to day I'm quite active anyway, so I don't really see the point in attaching a number to that activity. YRMV, of course.

Data is only useful if you actually look at it lol. I prefer having steps right alongside doses and weight so patterns stand out instead of being scattered across 3 different apps

Which app do you use to keep track of them?

A good piece of advice for anyone doing resistance training: "walk it out." Stay active during your rest periods. I don't care if it's leg day. Standing still, sitting, or walking — you'll burn calories either way. So you might as well add those extra steps.

Thinking about it now, what actually counts as a step? Initially I figured it needed several leg joints moving in tandem, but then again, a leg movement such as calf raises only involves your ankle joints. Would those reps count as steps too?

This is how I get through the workday — asking myself pointless but thoughtful questions all day long 😅

I've stopped keeping count of my steps. I already move around quite a bit. While on a glp1, I figure it makes more sense to log your sets and reps at the gym. If there's time, I'll walk some extra because it's good for me, but not as a way to change the numbers. To be clear, I do take a look at the step counts when there's a family outing or similar, just to see who racked up the most steps.

I use the Samsung Watch5 Pro and it tracks quite a lot for me: steps, sleep, the majority of my workouts, weight and body composition. Seeing all the trends is something I enjoy, and I like testing how consistent I can stay across everything.

There's no step target I aim for, though my average tends to land near 10,000 a day. Depending on what else I'm up to that day, some days are much higher and others much lower.

pep planner, to be upfront, I'm the one who made it haha. doses, weight and what's in the fridge all in a single place, so I'm not switching between apps
