Hello,

I'm not certain whether this belongs in this section, but I'll post it anyway:

Right now I have a parcel held at customs. According to them, I need to submit these documents:

  • a detailed description of the goods
  • proof of payment

I already sent them an invoice from the vendor. On reflection, maybe sending that document wasn't the best move.. 😅

Everything is being processed through DHL Express, and so far there's no sign that the package has been opened (from what I can tell).

Because I can't produce or come up with proof of payment for this amount, I'm stuck and unsure what to do.

Clearance ends in about 1 week. I don't know if they'll return the package, destroy it, or even open it - which would be the worst outcome.

Any suggestions on how to get the package, or is it a "lost case"?

I already contacted the vendor, but they weren't much help. They also haven't offered a reship/refund yet.

Has anyone gone through something similar? What happens once the clearance deadline passes?

Thanks!

Cheers

Which customs office is holding it—the one in the US or in Austria?

Ah, Love Letters.

You have my deepest sympathy — I'm truly sorry for your loss.

Customs officers aren't fools. They likely already know what's inside, but they're looking for you to provide specifics yourself (my guess is they want something they can use against you).

Heh. Here's how I picture it: "We've got your package stopped because we figure it's peptides from China. Now, before we go through the motions of destroying it — though realistically it'll probably end up with our friends and relatives — how about you tell us that yes, these are peptides from China, list which ones, and name your supplier? That way we get sharper at seizing shipments, and our friends and family will know the right dosages. And if you have the COA, we'd love to see it. Best wishes, Customs."

Question for my fellow Europeans:

What has your experience been like when customs handles parcels arriving from China? From what I can tell, plenty of packages seem to clear without any issues(?).

Going forward, is there anything I can do to raise the odds of it getting through customs?

When customs starts asking questions, your best move is to go silent and pretend you have no clue what they mean and that you weren't waiting on any package.

A. Never hand over proof; pay no attention to Customs at all.

B. 🙏

C. Go with a vendor that offers a reship policy.

E. 🙏

When it comes to the reship, would using another address or name be something you'd suggest?

If it can be done, then yes
