Compounded versus Gray: A Comparison of Effectiveness

I know opinions differ widely here, and a lot of people insist that “Tirz is Tirz”. My own experience began with compounded Hallandale, and the results were excellent. There were no side effects, my appetite was reduced by just the right amount, and after 3 months I had only needed to move up to 3.5. Then I chose to experiment with gray and bought from a vendor I trusted. After 3 weeks on it, it felt as though I had stopped taking Tirz altogether: I was hungry, inflammation returned, and the whole thing seemed like a placebo. Before using it, I had sent the Tirz for testing, and it came back at 99% pure. When I switched back to Hallandale, I could genuinely feel it working by day 2.

If any of you have run into this same issue, have you noticed that certain suppliers carry Tirz that is more “potent”? I realize the individual probably plays a large role, but I’m hoping to hear some useful feedback.

Thanks,

Bill

What is the number on the scale telling you? Perhaps insufficient time has elapsed. Or could it be that you are only dosing for maintenance?

One theoretical worry would involve TFA salts, though this applies much more strongly to cloudy reta.

I haven't run into that problem myself. For me, grey Tirz lands about the same as the compounded ProRx I used before. Still, back when I was on Reddit — this was prior to discovering this community — I remember folks saying they could tell a difference from one compounding pharmacy to the next.

So your grey Tirz came back at 99% purity. Did the report include mass as well?

The lab behind the product could make all the difference. Should it have come from one of the labs with a bad reputation, then the COA is quite possibly forged. Apart from that scenario, though, Tirz ought to act identically to any other Tirz provided its identity, mass and purity check out — to my knowledge there is no variation in bioavailability.

Weight loss stalled… yet compounded got things moving downward again.

I should have mentioned that earlier.

BT labs was my source; testing showed 20mg to 22mg, so I adjusted the reconstitution and dosing accordingly. Excellent question.

I've been steadily using up a big supply of compounded tirz, and I finally gave one of my gray vials a shot. The vial came back overfilled on testing, so I figured I'd notice a stronger effect, but honestly it felt no different from the tirz I've been injecting for the past 8 months. Also, my compounded supply includes both BPI and ProRX, and I haven't noticed any distinction between those two either.

My rat does noticeably better on the gray than on the compounded version from telehealth. While using compounded through Strive, the scale hardly budged. I should mention, though, that the compounded product was a Triz+Gly+B12 combo, so that might explain it.

In the same way, I found no distinction between tirz sourced from Chinese vendors and the compounded version. My experience includes Brello Health both prior to and throughout my gray period, plus ProRx earlier on.

I went through the same thing. The first reta I tried came from someone I believe is a reseller who sells single vials within the states. Appetite was under tight control and weight was coming off. Then my first gray China kit underperformed compared to that first one, despite good test results and no underfill. Appetite suppression was minimal and I felt no sides at all. Even so, weight kept dropping.

The R30 kit I most recently picked up through a gb, from a vendor mainly known for top-notch somatotropins, is delivering noticeably better results than the previous kit.

Somewhere along the way I heard that how a peptide is manufactured, or something along those lines, can influence how it works. My guess is that would not appear on a standard COA. As for ways to test for it, I have no idea what they would be.

Back when I was on compounded, folks in that forum kept saying every day that the 503As were just sending out water.

I'd also verify the reconstitution figures using a shot calculator. If this happens to be your very first time doing it, it's simple to slip up.

LADYJ.... I'm with you on that.

From one injection to the next out of the very same reconstituted vial, my subjective impressions swing around — so comparing across different lots or suppliers is even messier. Still, whether I notice hunger pangs, a weaker throat sensation, or anything else, the product has consistently done its job.

A while back I organized a group test: a batch went to Janoshik, and several of us began injecting before the results came in. A good number of people said things like [[Q1]]. My own take stayed the same — [[Q2]]. The lab came back at 99.8% purity, with a 10% overfill and very low endotoxins. So, whatever — 👍

For a period of time, I was on compounded Sema. Then a shipment arrived, and I couldn't feel anything from it. My appetite was constant, and the pounds began coming back. Eventually it clicked that this had all begun with that most recent delivery, so I placed another order (same pharmacy), and the effects returned.

So yes, one month I did end up with a useless batch from a real pharmacy.

With gray, that hasn't happened to me. My body just didn't handle Reta well, though, so I made the change to Tirz.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. I'll give another vendor a shot and likely just “take more”. 🤣 Thanks Ladyj!

Going straight from Mounjaro to tirz, the effect struck me as pretty much identical. What bothers me is the overfill bonus offset by what gets lost in filtering — the exact amount you inject stays a mystery. MJ’s precision is something I miss… oh well
