These things show up every day for me. The taste is absolutely foul!! For roughly 1 month I've been on omeperazole. Pepto, digestive enzymes (papaya) and famotidine have all been tried. They still keep coming. Pretty much daily. My meals are small and I avoid anything too fatty or heavy. Pain isn't really the issue, it's just gross and irritating!! Does anybody know any weird fixes I could give a shot? Something just to mask the flavor would be fine too! I came across a claim that pickle juice might do the trick 🤣🤣

The cause is delayed gastric emptying. I don't have a solution, I just figured you'd want to be aware.

Give ginger root a shot. Cut it into slices, add boiling water, leave it to steep for 5 minutes, then drink it slowly. Hope that helps 😊

Acid reflux got better for me thanks to BPC and intermittent fasting. I reached a point where omeprazole wasn't needed anymore. The trade-off, however, is that eating enough protein and calories daily became really difficult while fasting, and once my hair began shedding I stopped IF. These days I take omeprazole roughly every 4 days again.

Omeprazole is something I dislike because of its many negative effects, especially that it blocks vitamin absorption and stops Vit B 12 synthesis, which relies on stomach acid.

Sema never gave me sulphur burps, though for a while they'd show up every few months with no warning. What was behind it remains a mystery to me, but the pattern was always the same: out of nowhere I'd be extremely ill for a few days. The awful burps wouldn't let up, acid would rise into my throat, and I'd be vomiting bile.

Clearly the trigger isn't the same, but the one thing that brought relief was simply refusing food. :l Not exactly ideal, I know, yet during the stretches when it kept recurring, I'd essentially do a water fast for roughly three days until the symptoms cleared. The nausea was more than I could handle, and at its worst I genuinely couldn't work, since even plain water would come back up.

When it's severe, you could try protein drinks plus electrolytes and see whether that makes a difference? A manager I worked with was sure my gallbladder was the culprit, since she'd had identical symptoms before ending up in emergency surgery to have hers taken out.

What's strange is that these issues stopped about a year after I began semaglutide, and before that they'd been going on for around five years. Anyone dealing with this has my sympathy, it's genuinely miserable.

Whenever something goes wrong with my stomach, my go-to is to down a lot of water. I’m already over a gallon daily without even pushing for it. Once in a while I get a bit of bloating. Still, the more water I get in, the more that fades. I’ll also take Tums now and then. Thanks to roadside tacos, I learned that Pepto—especially the tablets—is about as useful as going after a lion with a Nerf gun while dressed in a steak tuxedo.

Some folks recommend eating less at a time and more often. However, here's something that's worked for me.

MAKE SURE TO CHEW YOUR FOOD!

I mean really break it down. Get it to a mushy texture prior to swallowing. That way it doesn't linger in the stomach and decompose before digestion kicks in. This has worked for me and for buddies I've assisted in starting GLP-1s.

Shifts in how the gut moves, what you eat, weight reduction, and portion sizes will all influence the gut microbiome. I haven't come across much research specifically about sulphur burps, but I dealt with them for a few weeks while on tirz. Most likely, gut bacteria are producing too much h2s gas — probably in the small intestine since it comes up as burps rather than out the other end, though the large intestine is also possible. Diet, fiber, and pro/prebiotics are the standard levers for changing your microbiome. In my case I never figured out the trigger; it simply stopped, which was a relief because it was quite awful. Trying probiotics or fiber supplements for a week or two is a simple, fast experiment to see if they help.

For me, there were 2 contributing factors: my gallbladder is gone, and my gut is in bad shape. That situation sent me to a Gastroenterologist and made me focus hard on rebuilding my gut. I stay away from the foods that set me off (they aren't the same for everybody), do intermittent fasting, and follow a routine of top-tier broad spectrum probiotics alongside omeprazole each morning (on an empty stomach, then nothing but water for 4 hours). On top of that, I take digestive enzymes with ox bile at every meal, and I monitor my fiber, aiming to get more fiber than carbs.

Figuring out which foods trigger it was essential! I had to take a hard look at my diet. In my case, beef, garlic, and raw onions were the worst offenders. Beef already digests slowly for me, and when you add slow gastric emptying on top of that, it turned into a mess. I began metformin for A1c and hormone reasons, and an unexpected effect showed up: better gut motility. It genuinely helps keep things moving.

Along with the burps, I get absurd amounts of gas. It's extremely uncomfortable and honestly foul! Gas-x does the trick. The probiotics cut down the Sulphur taste. On the day of pin and the day after, I eat only cooked vegetables and white meat chicken; less fuel means fewer chances for gas problems.

Sulphur burps that keep happening can point to Giardia and are definitely a signal that the gut biome is out of balance. It may be worth getting in touch with a Gastroenterologist and having them test a sample. Gut problems become very complicated VERY quickly. My GI doctor has been invaluable throughout my journey.

Safe travels!

Vitamin deficiencies really do happen. My B12 and calcium bottomed out after taking omeprazole every day for 2 years. These days I need subq B12 shots each week plus daily calcium supplements. Getting my energy back was an unexpected bonus. IF has completely changed how I eat and it helps my gut a lot. Unfortunately I rarely reach my calorie goals, so protein drinks and vitamins have to fill the gap.

Appreciate you posting this. Good to feel like I'm not the only one.

Once I increased my tirz dose to 10MG, I started dealing with the same problem (along with a bunch of other delightful side effects) that the OP describes. This past week I made hydration my main focus. Turns out the sulphur burps, gas pain, bloating and stomach trouble are fading. It's not that I added much fiber, but pushing my water intake up to around 100 ounces daily has felt like a breakthrough these past 7 days. Count me on the team that now drinks far more water than I ever imagined possible lol! I hope what you shared ends up helping the OP!

Thank you all so much for the ideas and input!!! I'm going to give some new approaches a shot and be much more careful with what I eat until my system settles down!!

What dose are you taking, and how long has it been? For me, nothing worked — not even the smallest amount of Tirz — until I reduced the dose further, added oral BPC-157, and gave it time. Now at 6 weeks, things are improving.

What's your diet like? Bacteria can release sulphur while breaking down particular foods, which may explain the smell. Another possibility is that the foods themselves contain sulphur compounds.

From where I stand, this points either to a sensitivity to sulphur-rich foods or to something going on with your gut bacteria.
