Does anyone else notice their stomach looks flatter in the morning, but then after the first drink and meal they get more bloated than they normally would? It's been strange watching such a big change between the morning and the late afternoon.

I increased my dose this morning, and this afternoon I experienced bloating for the first time. It appears that I have lost a great deal of progress, though I hope this is only short-lived.

My guess is that this ties back to how gut motility changes and digestion slows down, which gives gas extra time to accumulate as bacteria break down the fiber from what u've eaten. When I first began 2mg of Reta, I think I ran into this too. These days I'm on a 1.5mg dose, so it bothers me less. Perhaps it'll settle down eventually. Just recalled that back when I started 2mg, I was using Gas-Ex. Could be worth checking into. I also began psyllium fiber for motility, which sort of moves things along faster, if u know what I mean.

Come to think of it, that's true. I hadn't actually connected it to reta—I figured it was something only I was dealing with.

I'm the same — eventually it clicked that this isn't my norm, and normally after training I'm at my flattest. My guess, like the person above mentioned, is that trapped gas from digestion moving slower is behind it. Good to find out I'm not the only one dealing with this.

Yep, ever since my dose went up to 4mg this has been happening. These days I have to watch every single thing I put in my mouth. If I eat something heavy or greasy, the reflux hits me hard — that never used to happen. 😭 I figured age was catching up with me, but now I'm starting to think it's the reta. Not a big deal though, eating better is something I should be doing regardless. 🤣 Seriously, reta is basically dragging me toward healthier habits. Tums and I are inseparable now.

😂 honestly same, though in my case it happens with every food — my diet is really clean and still I can't dodge it. Whatever, the payoff makes it worthwhile!

A) At this point the peppermint gels have at least turned the burps...minty

B) I started adding daily subq kpv first thing in the morning, and that took care of it

Or could it be.. constipation (along with slowed gut motility)?

For my part, I never had this issue, since reta doesn't make me constipated.

A reaction like that can happen in certain people when mannitol is present, and mannitol is a frequent component of lyophilized injectables such as Reta.

I have not used Reta, but Tirzepatide gives me that same effect. My guess is it comes down to gastric emptying slowing down — the food lingers in your stomach, and certain things may even start to ferment.
