April was my 60th birthday. Lifting has been a regular habit for several years now. Even so, my age is showing (Tirz-related muscle loss probably plays a part too). These days a one mile walk plus a session leaves me wiped out for the remainder of the day.

JEFit has always been my tool for building and tracking routines, though I'm now considering whether I need something that factors age into the programming. Scrolling the App Store turns up mostly chair-based options. No disrespect intended to anyone, that just isn't where I am. I want to keep lifting, with the plan adjusted.

Has anyone found anything that fits?

Try chat gpt in thinking mode (the paid one). Drop in your current routine, then spell out your age, symptoms, fatigue, issues and so on in detail. At 53 it has my routine dialled in remarkably well .. plenty of small tweaks that genuinely helped... turns out I was overtraining and creating my own problems. My view is that no app is going to do this for you. For tracking I use Hevy, and exporting the data so chat gpt can analyse it has worked nicely. JMO

A special routine for your age isn't really required, in my view. With no injuries or pain in the picture, there's no reason to change things up purely because of a birthday. From what you wrote, it reads more like your capacity to recover has dropped off. Try a full week of deload from lifting and watch your mood, fatigue and recovery across it. Cutting your weekly volume of working sets is worth trying too. Keeping healthy and functional doesn't demand many hard working sets. Hope this helps 💪

Give the Liftosaur app a go — at over 50 I find it pretty simple

Nothing age-specific comes to mind for that.

50 is close for me, and I've found it's less about the plan and more about managing my weights, overall volume, and allowing adequate recovery.

I'm just back from running some 531 programs, and I deliberately kept my training maxes low.

The usual advice is to work at about 90% of your 1 rep max; I went 70-75%.

Staying fresh while still progressing the whole way through.

Liftosaur and Boostcamp are both good. Liftvault if spreadsheets are your thing.

just wait until you're 69, things can go downhill fast. My routine is a 3 mile walk every day plus some light resistance band or kettle ball work.

Lyfta is the app I use; it's simple (necessary at my age) and gives a detailed rundown of every exercise you might want, with a huge selection to pick from. After that I hash out a session for the day with my AI. Progress tracking is handled by the app, along with which muscle groups are ready and which want rest.
