Hi Everyone,

Drinking has never really been my thing. To be honest, my last drink was on my birthday, nearly 1 year back. My birthday is coming around again soon. This year, I want to celebrate too. Like I mentioned, I'm not much of a drinker and it was never something I enjoyed. Occasionally, I did like tasting an expensive whiskey. That's all, though. And on my birthday I will have to drink again. Is there anything I need to watch out for? Would it help to eat something fatty beforehand?

Sorry, but I couldn't help laughing a bit at the "I'll have to drink again on my birthday" part. Look, I'm a big fan of drinks myself, and I'd say you're fine to have a few for your Bday. Happy Bday, by the way!! As for your stomach.. Just have a proper meal first so it can soak up some of the alcohol, because your body isn't accustomed to it. I'm a sucker for a nice heavily peated Scotch- delicious

During my weight loss phase, I typically had a "get together" every Tuesday and Friday. To stay within my calorie targets on those days, I ate the same amount or even less. Since 4 or 5 whiskeys add up to 400-500 cal, cutting back on food was necessary.

If it were only for a special occasion, I might eat a little extra to soak it in...

just be prepared to "feel" it more 🙂

below is a sample of 1 week—look at Tues/Fri

Before having alcohol, I normally eat a meal that contains a decent amount of carbs and finish 2 electrolyte bottles. Using this method, I have never had a hangover on Reta following a night of drinking.

I’m not a frequent drinker, though I’ve always handled alcohol well—spirits in particular. Up until a month ago, I could finish 70cl of vodka by myself over 3-4 hours and stay completely in control.

Then at a party, after just 3 glasses, I got drunk in a way I never had before. I was still conscious and I remember everything. The only problem was that I couldn’t move in the direction I wanted to.

Everyone assumed it was due to my weight loss of almost 30kg. Some compared the amount I drank to my body weight, while others pointed the finger at Tirz.

The next day I looked into what actually caused it, and it turned out to be something quite different from what people thought. It wasn’t directly tied to Tirz or to the weight loss. The real reason was that after 10 months of dieting, my stomach had become constricted. Instead of staying in my stomach for a while, the alcohol was going straight into my small intestine and entering my bloodstream quickly.

Last weekend we went to another party, and I handled it much better by pacing myself and eating snacks and nuts at regular intervals.

I know this will get me shit on....but i have 4-6 (usually 4) white claws roughly once a week/every 2 weeks. It keeps me sane.

Never drink on an empty stomach. thats how your stomach lining gets eaten away. So eat something first, and dont overdo it. In my own case alcohol hasnt been the worst....BUT when you go back to back....to back days, that is where trouble starts. I overdid it over the 4th holiday weekend, about 18 across the 3day stretch....and yea. Mr. Scale made it clear I fuzzed up. So steer clear of consecutive drinking days...my read is thats what pushes your body into fight or flight mode, and then you hold water plus the other downsides that come with drinking.
