My goal is to go from 196lbs (88 kilo) down to 175lbs (79 kilo), a loss of 30lbs. At 5’ 10”, my waist has a pear shape. Most of the day I’m seated at a desk and I’m not very active.

From workouts 10 years back, I still carry some muscle.

After doing a fair amount of research, I believe Reta is the right choice. To avoid possible GI problems, I intend to increase the dose very gradually, since dropping weight too fast worries me. What I’m most worried about is muscle loss—given my situation and goals, is there anything you’d stack alongside it?

Additionally, I’m planning to begin ghk-cu for hair thinning and skin harmed by the sun. How do people generally view combining Reta and GHK-cu?

Any suggestions are welcome.

A lot of people combine the two, and I'm among them.

Load up on protein sources like meat, eggs, bars, and powder, and add in some resistance training. Also take a multivitamin along with electrolytes. That ought to take you to your goal.

Exactly. Tesa is 🔥

2 mg each Monday through Friday, taken before bed. Saturday and Sunday are for rest and reset. Continue this for 26 weeks. Visceral fat melts away and some SubQ abdominal goes as well.

High protein and Reta , plus body weight work such as sit ups , beginning with just a handful , even 1 or two , then building up slowly . From there you could add push ups , and maybe under table pull ups .

In 6 months you will be a different person🙂 that pear shape will be upside down 🙂

I'm interested - why suggest Tres instead of Reta? Thanks

I'm a 52-year-old male, so our ages are pretty similar. I began Reta on Dec 1st, and today my weight is down 35lbs (from 210lb to 175lb). My starting dose was 0.5mg for 2 weeks, after that 1mg twice weekly for 3 weeks (which works out to 2mg weekly), then I kept increasing by 1mg every 2 weeks, and I'm currently at 5mg. Since I've reached my goal weight, I plan to begin slowly titrating down. On top of that, I've taken KLOW every day because of some inflammation problems. I also added Tesamorelin (that's the one mentioned above, not Tirzepatide) since it goes after visceral fat, and for me it helped with sleep and recovery.

My latest blood work came back perfect, and I feel a lot better. I definitely lost muscle too, because I wasn't consistent with exercise, and what I did was mainly walking the dog and using the treadmill. Now that my weight goal is reached, I'm shifting toward re-gaining muscle and will start adding weights at least 3 times per week.

Give it time and be patient. My weight didn't start moving until 5-6 weeks in. Good luck.

You're headed in the right direction. Take it easy at first and stay patient. Rather than plain GHK-Cu, I'd go with GLOW or KLOW.

One more thing. Skip training and you'll shed muscle. Training plus protein intake is non-negotiable. When I tried to drop 30 lbs, same as you, I still lost muscle even though I'm at the gym constantly. Protein and workouts are a must. My take is that reta will burn off some of the carbs you take in, but muscle loss is still going to happen.

Odds are you'll come out healthier regardless.

It's great to see other guys here who are in their 50s. Wishing you success.

Definitely remember to focus on muscle growth too.

Right now Facebook marketplace has tons of workout gear listed. Lots of people are doing spring cleaning.

I picked up a weight set plus a bench press that includes a leg attachment for $100

I'm not putting tesa above tirz or reta in terms of recommendation. Combine them. Tesa targets VAT specifically and excels at that, as long as the person simultaneously builds a solid exercise habit and makes other healthy lifestyle decisions.

Understood, my error. Thanks!

My own experience, using Reta alone. Age: 66. Starting weight was 215, aiming for 170-175. After I retired, my weight crept up from roughly 185 to 215. I began in early January: 2mg for 4 weeks, then 4mg for 4 weeks, and this past Friday I moved up to 5mg. Averaging 2.5lbs lost per week, totaling 25lbs down. As I said before: protein, meats, powders, fresh vegetables—but be selective about which veggies. Keep portions small and keep an eye on carbs. Tomorrow I'm picking up some lighter weights to try to build back a bit of strength. It's not difficult. Good luck.

Sitting at a desk all day, paired with the ongoing stress that type of job brings, is destroying the health of everyone in that situation. I once believed blue collar workers were sacrificing their wellbeing in exchange for a paycheck, but the truth is that desk workers are the ones making that trade. For men, carrying extra pounds accelerates the conversion of testosterone into estrogen beyond the usual rate, and a pear shaped body can indicate elevated estrogen.

Dropping the weight will improve every aspect of this, but I also urge you to add exercise. Our bodies are designed for it, and you'll notice the payoff in your mental state, your hormones and how you look.

At 55, with a desk job, I'd suggest you look beyond GHK-cu alone. You're going into a cut, and you'll be training connective tissue that likely never got proper care (it didn't). Something like

would help ensure nothing gets in the way of your workouts. For me, 2mg daily for 1 month has been enough, and I haven't felt the need to raise it. I'm down 5lbs already, and likely a bit more after my last water purge. If peptides are your route, tesa or cjc/ipa get frequent praise for visceral fat. Given your pear shape, my hunch is you're carrying a lot of it, but you can verify for yourself here: https://www.lih.lu/en/visceral-fat-calculator/. According to Youtube, this calculator matches an mri for assessing visceral fat.
