What makes pens worth using? (convince me)

I'm completely in the dark when it comes to pens — how they function, what situations call for them, I couldn't tell you. Needles, on the other hand, are something I'm well versed in. The one big takeaway from my experience: I burn through a large number of them every week, and they don't cost much.

So what's the appeal of pens?

On just the opening page alone, I count roughly 5 discussions dedicated to pens, my friend.

I typed pens into the search field (the magnifying glass at the top) and ticked the titles-only option -- that's how I came across this list --

If you pin every day, pens make the whole routine quicker. You spend the effort up front: mix the powder, push it through a filter into the pen cartridge, and clear out the air. After that's done, actually injecting takes about 30 sec.

In the past I'd reach for my diabetic syringe, grab an alcohol wipe, swab the vial top, flip it over, pull the dose, flick out bubbles, and so on. That routine ran me 2 min's.

Now picture doing that on days when I'm running 4 pins (GHK, BPC, TB, and the GLP) -- the time saved adds up fast.

Sure, setting up the pen takes some time. But like I said above, if you're already filtering, the extra work really isn't much either way.

I inject 10-12 times a day. That sounds like it would need a ton of pens. How do people handle that kind of logistics?

Appreciate it, man — I went through every one of them. Still, none of that actually spoke to what I was getting at with this post. My situation is its own thing, and there are specific questions I'd rather dig into here, in a thread of my own. If that bothers you, simple solution: just skip it. And if the rest of the crowd agrees with you, then this thread will fade out and nobody will miss it. I'd bet good money there are countless other duplicate threads covering all sorts of subjects, and yet they somehow keep going. Who knows — maybe this one will too. A guy can hope.

What you asked was quite broad. Everyone here is attempting to assist. Up to now, you have not made that simple.

Could you share a few particular questions you have? That could steer us if we are to be of greater help to you.

How did you end up at 10 injections every day without knowing anything about injection pens?

Your post doesn't really have a clear point. You're basically asking others to hand you the most basic details about why an injection pen is useful.

My honest view is that anyone posing this sort of question simply isn’t the right fit for pen use — at least not when done correctly.

Perhaps that's just how they begin looking into it. You pose a question, wanting a few pointers, and then expand on those by digging further.

You know, everything looks easy and obvious once we've worked it out. Earlier, we have no clue where to begin, or what to ask or investigate. Everyone goes through this. We simply forget.

So what's the appeal of pens?
Head over to YouTube. Syringes were never something I enjoyed, and using them made me feel like an addict with my "works". Getting an injector pen shipped from China, along with vials and needles, ended up taking me months. The change it brought about was huge. Right before sleep, while drowsy, I administer my Tesamorlin and Ipamorlin. That drowsiness has led me to slip up during reconstitution or injection. These days I own several pens; every one carries a label showing its contents and the dial position I must set before injecting. Every pen sits in its own labeled box, and each pen has a distinct color. When I'm tired or worn out after a long day, mistakes no longer happen. Using the pens is simple: rotate the dial to the number on the label, place it against my body, and press the button. Pain, nervousness, or fear about the routine are absent.

My home office is where I go to inject. On many occasions, my wife walked in while I was reconstituting, drawing liquid into the syringe, or injecting. The look she gave me suggested she thought I was shooting illegal drugs, and she would follow it with "again". These days the entire routine finishes in under a minute. Her perception of the pen has shifted, and so has mine. That look no longer comes my way, nor does the disapproving "again". Injector pens have my full 100% endorsement.

Wait, so admitting I lack knowledge on a topic and turning to a community full of practical experience means I'm not qualified to use a pen? And you're "quite certain" about that?

Alright then, I suppose I'll retreat to my little syringe corner, now aware that I'm simply not the right sort of person for a peptide injection pen—because you've declared it so. Got any more pearls of wisdom or life tips to share, or is this the one thing you're an expert in?

At no point did I claim that your asking the question by itself makes you ineligible to use a pen. My actual words were that "I’m quite certain the kind of people who ask questions like this are not suitable candidates for using pens properly."

Nobody is ruling you out or preventing you from using a pen. What I’m getting at is that folks who skip the search function and post basic questions that have already been answered tend to fall into a particular group, and with a device like an injection pen there’s likely a greater chance of user error.

This is not a personal attack. I’m simply describing a general pattern I’ve observed on this forum and on other platforms including Reddit.

That’s a personal attack, though I’m not taking it personally. If you refer to "people like this" and I’m the one who asked the question, then your remark is aimed straight at me—and maybe at others too. You call this a repeat thread; where pens are concerned, I guess that’s fair. Still, I did go through the other threads, and honestly, a lot of them are pretty scattered and don’t tackle the questions I wanted to raise here, in my thread. Maybe I should have opened with "I pin 10-12 times daily, how do you handle that with pens", but I didn’t want to box myself into that, so I asked more broadly, waited to see what answers came in, and planned to follow up with secondary questions.

Even though I’m supposedly a person "like this", I’ve somehow figured out peptides, how to buy them from China, how to use crypto without getting scammed, how to build a working protocol, how to reconstitute my vials, and how to pin myself 50-75 times a week without any problems—all while dropping 42lbs in 4 months. Yet I supposedly can’t grasp the complexity of those newfangled fancy pens! Heaven forbid I don’t frame my pen question perfectly; then I (we) have to put up with your crappy reply, as if I’d just murdered babies or something. Do you post this on every duplicated topic, or am I just special? Because I see plenty of duplicated threads with overlapping or even identical subjects almost every day.

I’m glad to see them. Topics need to be renewed, people have new experiences, things change. If nobody wanted to answer this because the topic is oversaturated, then nobody would, and your wish would come true. I’ve mostly been impressed with the community here and how incredibly supportive everyone is of each other...except you.

You can do better.

I’d suggest taking a look at this thread - it helped me learn a ton and gave me the push to give one a shot myself (mine is for Ipa, which I take 2x a day)

Could anyone sum up pens for me in a TLDR

/community-link/thread/17286/

If you’re doing that many daily pins, pens might be a great fit for you! The cost is higher at the start, but it’s incredibly easy to use.

LOL I can tell you’re from New York (high five fam)…just switch into rush hour MTA mode and let it slide off like water off a duck’s back 🤣 Said with love and a slice 🍕

EDIT: If what you’re asking about managing is storage, Etsy has plenty of choices: enclosed cases, closed stands, open stands…Yada yada

In your first post, you wrote “I know nothing about pens” and asked folks to “sell me.”

That's what I replied to.

I wasn't saying that asking a question means you're incompetent. My point was that if a person admits they know nothing about pens, they should probably learn the basics before using one, since pens introduce an extra layer of potential dosing or user mistakes when someone doesn't grasp concentration, dose per click/unit, priming, cartridge volume, and storage.

Had your real question been, “I pin 10~12 times daily; how do people practically manage that with pens?” that would have been a far clearer place to start.

Scroll up and you'll see that the overall response to your original question, and not only from me, wasn't positive. I'm simply more blunt about it.

And no, I don't reply to every duplicated topic. I replied here because the framing of the post invited a reaction. It's rare to see someone join a research community and ask others to “sell” them on something. People here usually research thoroughly, make their own decisions, and own the consequences.

Key takeaway: a poorly framed post typically draws poorly framed replies. I was addressing how the question was asked. You're the one who turned it into a personality judgment with the comments below; You can do better.

  • "I (we) have to ready your shitty response, as if i just murdered babies or something."
  • "I've mostly been impressed with the community here, and how incredibly supportive everyone is of each other...except you. You can do better."
Luckily, I'm far too old to care much about what others think of me, so you can keep ranting and take this in whatever direction you like.
