What do you wish you had tracked from day 1?

Looking back, I really wish I had kept better records early on — side effects, food noise, and how each dose made me feel. Memory is a liar lol. What do you wish you had started tracking sooner?

Looking back, I really regret not documenting my appearance. At my heaviest, sadness and shame kept me from even snapping a selfie. I dodged mirrors constantly, and I even taught myself to focus only on my face whenever a bigger mirror was around. (Just recalling this makes me sad…I wish I'd had the inner strength to love myself at my largest, but the weight gain also stemmed from pain that limited my mobility…and that in turn worsened my body's pain, which definitely spilled over into emotional pain.) My first photo came at 25lb down. These days, with 30lbs (13.6kg) to go until goal 1 and 65lbs (29.5kg) until goal 2, I snap plenty of pics!

Mood is another thing I wish I'd tracked. I've gotten better at it lately since the iPhone Health app has a feature for it, and that's where I log my peps, med and supplements. Keeping meds, mood and luteal cycle in one app definitely makes tracking simpler.

From all my scattered mood tracking in the past (which has mostly captured negative moods)…I know I haven't felt this consistently positive in a very, very long time! With the weight loss, less pain and better mobility, plus reduced anxiety from Selank…I'm feeling super content!

I only took my waist measurement on a regular basis. Now I find myself wondering about my arms, legs, chest and hips. It's odd, but my shoes feel looser as well.

I completely agree about photos. I have just a handful, and since I was wearing lots of layers in them, they don't really show progress well.

Same here. At the very least, I wish I'd taken starting measurements.

A DEXA scan taken before I began. By the time I got my first one, I was already 6 weeks and 21lb into this journey, which has now stretched to 44 weeks and 100lb.

I own a couple of Renpho gadgets now, and I regret not having them at the start: a bodyfat scale and a measuring tape. Whether Renpho beats other smart monitoring devices, I can't really say, but mine have worked well for me. Once a week I step on the scale and measure my waist, and I've been keeping a log for close to a year. As I mentioned, I truly wish I'd placed the order for the scale and tape on the very day I signed up for a compounding 'script. Here's what I purchased. They offer pricier and cheaper models that appear to do much the same thing, plus other brands in the same space.

A Youtube DR I follow made an interesting video about how to measure waist circumference:

Seeing old photos still catches me off guard — I looked at my driver's license today and I may need a new picture.

That's funny! I had a pair of brand new Topsiders that never fit, too tight from the start.. now they fit!! That's the only pair where I really noticed it.

I wish I had done this, always second guessing how much muscle I lost..

Count me in as a third. I'm also kicking myself for not buying my Renpho right at the start of the year — I didn't pick it up until February.

If I could go back, I would have taken my waist measurement at the very least. It never crossed my mind to do that back when I was starting out. Tracking my dosage in one of those shot tracker apps might have been useful too.

Honestly, I got really lucky here. Back in March 2023 I had a DEXA scan — I'd been taking weight lifting classes for several months and there was a promotion running. At the time I was still at my highest weight, and the overall results left me a bit disappointed, but I was happy to have the scan as one more baseline for my health journey. About 3 months later I found sema at a med spa and never looked back. The following year I switched to tirz, and this past March I had a second DEXA done. And seriously, everyone, seeing how the fat and muscle distribution shifted is genuinely, genuinely exciting. It's a real thrill, and I plan to get another scan at the end of the year, when I'm hoping my bone density will have improved (it was one of the main health markers that didn't look great in the scan results — another reason I'm glad I had it done).
