What are you looking forward to as you lose more weight?

Over here in Asia, remarks like that are just part of life. Hearing "Have you gained weight?", "You got bigger!" or even "Have you gained more weight??" wouldn't raise many eyebrows. Being blunt about weight is normal, since in much of Asia being fat genuinely isn't accepted. That's just how things are, and I made my peace with it a long time ago.
How usual is it to carry extra weight in Japan? Based on what's been said above, I'd guess it isn't very usual. Could it be that they're envious?

Being overweight isn't the norm there, and envy is the last thing on anyone's mind. Folks simply remark on your size. 太った? or また太ったの? and phrases like that are ordinary things to hear. A stranger — frequently an elderly woman — may even blurt out, "Wow, your stomach is big!" At times they'll go so far as to pat it, or rub it for luck as though I were a present-day Buddha. No malice is intended; that's simply how things are. The way people there comment on others' bodies would strike many westerners as shocking.

Photos really do tell the truth — I had no idea how much weight I'd put on until I saw myself in pictures. It's strange that a photo can show so much more than a mirror ever does.
Wow, yeah, so true. The photos were the most shocking part. Hated company events because there would always be group photos of everyone who attended that would then get shared in company group chats. Always embarrassing to be the mega fat dude.

I'm in the same spot — 43 lbs down. Nobody has picked up on it apart from the One who sees me out of the clothes I usually wear. I don't see it either, but I truly sense it in how my clothes sit and in the way I move.
It's honestly kind of wild that a loss of almost 50 lbs can go unnoticed. Nice work! 😀

1. Getting down onto the floor without giving serious thought to whether it's even worth the effort.

2. Turning over in bed with no wind up, no pre roll, and no follow-up roll.

3. Missionary style without triceps that ache for a week. 🤣

4. No more coworkers or random small children patting my belly.

So I've dropped roughly 50lbs now, and it's curious that no one has said anything yet — my clothes are getting pretty loose at this point. I considered picking up some new ones, but with another 100 to go, it sort of feels like throwing money away. What I'm really excited about is getting back to hiking, and being able to stay on my feet all day without them aching by evening. There was one time in my life when I reached a healthy weight, and it was incredible how much more I began to enjoy living.

Once new clothes start showing up, I'd guess people will catch on. That's how it went for me.

Yeah, you're likely correct on that. I still have some genuinely good clothes from my earlier weight loss, but since I wasn't able to keep the weight off, I'm certain my family will definitely notice as soon as those items make a reappearance.

And not having to flip through rack after rack of clothing, just hoping to come across something large enough to actually fit
The moment it clicked for me was a trip to a Beals outlet with my wife to pick up clothes. I searched the entire store and not a single shirt would fit. That's when I realized something had to change.

From 151kg down to 105kg, and from 4XL to XL clothing — the next milestone I'm looking forward to is body recomp 🙏

I reached a 4X tall. Those shirts are hard to come by. Then I went on a different diet and got down to 3X tall, but the progress stopped and the scale began creeping up again. What really pushed me was Father's Day — I took my dad out to eat, and we ended up standing around waiting for a table since I was too big to fit in a booth. The shame was intense, and that's when I began looking into medical help. It was helping, but the cost was more than I could handle, so I ended up here.

Absolutely, I know that feeling all too well. It was utterly humiliating, and I have zero desire to go through anything like it again.

Honestly, being big makes life such a drag — every little thing demands so much effort that it's genuinely hard to enjoy anything.
