Walking through what a group test involves

A search through the forums turned up no answer for me. What I did find was a recent thread on "group buys" and the reasons trust is risky there.

There was also the STG101 write-up, plus the guide aimed at whoever leads a group test.

The process makes sense to me so far, though I'm not 100% certain. Correct me wherever I've got it wrong.

1. Order my products.

2. After it arrives, locate others who ordered from the same vendor and batch number(s) on telegram or wherever. Join the group.

3. Send the host the test fees and ship 1 vial out of the kits.

4. Get the results back

5. Nothing else to it

Have I got it right? It looks fairly straightforward.
 
That's correct. People who volunteer a vial for testing receive a reduced portion of the overall testing expense. Once you join certain TG groups, you'll begin discovering vendors, and the rabbit hole only gets deeper 🙂

Yeah, that's the gist of it, though step #3 tends to shift based on how many people are involved and who's running the test. When the group is bigger, donating a vial can sometimes offset what you owe for testing. With smaller groups, that's usually harder to pull off.

On top of that, plenty of groups have each member pay the lab straight away instead of routing money through the test lead.

One more thing: being a vial donor isn't something you can count on. Usually the lead puts out a call for volunteers, and if enough people step up, donors get picked at random. There are also groups where a collector is chosen randomly—not necessarily the lead—and that person gives a vial, gathers everyone else's vials, and ships them off to the lab.

Yeah, my TG friend ran into that too. As people drop out, the cost keeps climbing. Typically you can locate a product you've already purchased somewhere. There's this one guy I know who never tests, and I've managed to find every COA for him—except for the one I just ordered. Probably a new batch, according to him. The batch number does get printed on the vial holder.
