Vendor Marked as Restricted

Hi everyone,

My go-to vendor's banner just switched over to "restricted vendor," and I have no idea what that designation actually involves or what triggered it for this specific one.

Can somebody fill me in on what this status means?

The label is literal: they cannot post on the forum, nor can they carry out any business through it.

Why a given vendor ends up there varies. In some cases it is merely that their sponsorship lapsed and was not renewed. In others, it stems from breaking forum rules, or from ignoring or refusing to fix problems raised by several customers.

If it's okay to ask, how can I learn the reason? I'd rather not choose a vendor who isn't acting properly.

Send a message through the Contact Us form and include the vendor's name.

My advice would be to err on the side of caution and go with another vendor until that situation is fixed. Suppose it's simply because they didn't renew their sponsorship — even then, once that connection to the community is cut, you're gambling that the pull of a solid reputation here no longer applies, which means one of the few safeguards out there disappears.

That's just my 2 cents.
