What factors do you personally weigh when picking a vendor?

(To be clear, this isn't about discussing sources or asking for recommendations. And sorry if there's already a thread like this—I looked but didn't find anything straightforward.)

When you're new, the sheer volume of info can feel like a lot, so I'd like to know how folks assess vendors. For example: cost, how fast they ship, what they offer, lab results, how big the community around them is, long-term reputation, how they communicate, etc. In your view, what makes a vendor reliable enough to buy from?

Another thing I'm wondering: if you started with one vendor and then moved to a different one, what prompted the switch?

I realize this comes down to personal preference and how much risk someone is willing to take—which is why I want to hear a range of viewpoints.

Nice question…..this is something I’ve been wondering about as well. The amount of info on here is huge, and finding this forum feels like a stroke of luck….though as someone new, it’s a bit overwhelming. There’s a ton to take in!

I’ve also joined a few of the vendors’ discords to check what folks are saying over there, so with any luck that will be useful once I’m ready to make my switch.

Chinese suppliers, in particular, may vanish overnight. You simply can't predict it. A TG channel might have 10,000 members and then be gone the following day, taking your payment without shipping anything. That's why I always limited spending to amounts I was okay losing with any given vendor.

Personally, I've never run into a problem, but I've heard of others who were out $400+ on orders that never arrived when SRY, SSA, and QSC shut down. Each of those was essentially the Walmart of Chinese peptide sellers, yet they also dealt in steroids, which likely drew trouble from their own government.

I've also bought from a US-based warehouse run by a Chinese vendor and from domestic resellers with comparable pricing. However, the US warehouse I used (SRY) is gone now (or has reappeared under different vendor names). Chinese vendors' EU warehouses frequently ship out of Germany?

Looking ahead, I intend to rely mainly on US warehouses and select domestic resellers.

I've been doing the same thing. Right now I'm in a few discords plus TG, mostly just watching and taking it all in haha. There's 1 vendor I'm most inclined to go with, and beyond going through every review and test result, for me a big part of it comes down to instinct

Beyond the suggestions already given, here’s one more from me: if it matters to you that what you buy has been third-party tested, then get into a third-party testing server — for example FTTP, or STG’s discord once it returns — and look at which vendors get tested often. That way, finding people to share testing expenses with becomes more likely.

Another route, and the one I usually take, is buying from resellers who run 3P testing themselves before putting anything up for sale. (A number of these started out as group buy setups, then shifted away from that model: now they buy bigger stocks, ship a few vials from every batch out, and sell kits once results arrive.) For a given pep, these tend not to be the absolute cheapest option, but since most are US-based, they’ve already dealt with crypto and absorbed all the importing risk.

My own approach has a certain structure to it.

1. Track record — or at least the absence of a poor one. People shouldn't be fighting to receive what they already paid for.

Often it's fine to go along with the crowd (provided the crowd is getting good outcomes)

2. Testing: I want to see fairly recent tests showing solid purity numbers and no short fills.

I also like to cross-reference cap colors that appear across multiple vendors and look at those results as well.

3. Cost: once those boxes are checked, who turns down a bargain? I watch for deals from sellers already sitting in my "safe" list, and whenever they carry what I'm after at a fair price, I pull the trigger.

Ultimately, Research is your best friend. Read, pay attention, read some more. Information is free but mistakes can be expensive.

Appreciate the feedback! Hearing how others go about this is always fascinating. My own approach has basically mirrored that, so it's comforting to know others operate the "same" way and that there's no secret trick I've overlooked haha

First, you have to pick up the secret handshake. Then, once you reach the door, say the password: "New England Clam Chowder" 😂

For me, the two most important traits in a vendor are honesty and communication. Not every one of them manages to meet that bar.

Testing should be paid for by the vendor, and I need to be sure the COAs they show are up to date for whatever I'm buying. Every vendor I use has built a solid reputation among their own buyers, and that reputation is part of why I stay.

Once a shipment goes out, I expect the tracking number to come to me without me having to chase it down.

There should also be some way to follow the order and find out if something goes wrong. If the vendor spots a problem, I want to hear about it from them. A couple of my vendors will actually message buyers along the lines of, "This is stuck in Customs and we'll order a reship by the end of the week, if the status is the same". That's good service.

Standing behind the product matters too. My main vendors will swap out anything that doesn't live up to the quality stated on their COAs. The better ones will do that when a buying group hands them a Jano COA as proof.

A vendor can vanish overnight, but while they're operating, these are the things I look for.

Occasionally a vial shows up shattered, or it goes to the wrong address. Chinese suppliers and the US warehouses they run will send a replacement, though that is not true of every smaller domestic seller, including certain domestic group buy resellers.

One reason I have pulled back from GBs on TG and Discord is that they typically lack the scale to simply reship when the last mile of delivery goes sideways. Shipping insurance might be offered, but who would purchase shipping insurance for illicit items?

Also, my view of TG flipped from loving it to hating it in a single night. The vibes are just bad now that it is used for fent distribution to minors, among other things. Naturally, the Internet itself is like that.

Joining a 3rd party testing group would be a good move.

When I purchase, I make an effort to obtain a COA. That way, I can send one vial for testing on my side and then compare results. My goal is simply to confirm I’m not giving my kangaroo a shot of pulverized TOP RAMA

I don't see it that way. A vendor's COA has value, but it isn't the gold standard. They could submit several vials, select the favorable results, and publish only those.

When deciding whether to buy, they do come in handy. That's the reason the testing groups carry out their own tests. Up to now, only a single vendor has come in under the COA they supplied, and that was on 1 product. The vendor I use most has delivered good product for such a long time that a lot of people have stopped testing altogether. I don't take it that far.

Some Chinese suppliers skip testing entirely, lol. Even so, third-party testing tends to show they're fine.

precisely, what way is there to be certain the lab tests actually correspond to the product that vendor is selling...

My approach is personal: I spend time reading this forum and joining the supplier’s Discord. I look at the general opinion on their products, and typically there’s someone organizing group testing for specific peps. That’s how I handled my first large order. In the end, I rely on intuition. I’ve come across accounts on this forum where a supplier starts strong, gains hype and a flood of orders, then declines and ships lower-quality product. I’d stay cautious and never inject anything without testing it first. It might be pricier, but it’s the surest way to protect yourself.

The military created the Internet (initially known as ARPANET) in order to take advantage of all of us and to disseminate propaganda.

With my main supplier, the group is informed about which tests go to Jano and the timing of those submissions. That supplier's name appears plainly on the Jano report—not left empty and not under someone else's name—and it can be checked on Jano's site. Once testing wraps up, the results get shared in the Test Results chat.

On the buying group's side, orders are placed and delivered about once a month, and typically 1 or 2 vials get tested so they can be measured against what the vendor had tested. If there's a mismatch with the vendor's paid test, those results are posted. Does that make it foolproof? Probably not, but in the gray world where nothing is certain, it's about as close as we can get.

As I mentioned above, a lot of the group's long-standing members simply trust what the vendor says, since that vendor has accumulated enough trust over time. I'm aware of 2 groups operating this way, and I doubt those vendors would throw that trust away with a bad product—but who knows?

Leaving those groups was a smart move. If a group buy offers no reship, it has no value. Going solo with a vendor who does reship is the better route. Since it seems like anyone can set themselves up as a Group Promotion Vendor lately, there is no lack of garbage GBs.

In my view, a COA provided by the vendor isn't merely helpful — it's absolutely necessary. If a seller has no idea what's actually in their product, why would I hand them my money?

Doing your own testing is the absolute least you should be doing.
