Hi all, good to join a group that might understand my kerfuffle (especially UK based). My struggle with vicious PCOS that the public healthcare is ignoring is how I found the group - apparently I take too good care of myself for them to act upon (but not good enough to not be fat shamed every single time I see a medical professional). Everything offered to help makes me worse and no weight comes off.
Continental Europe is where my family lives, and my father gets his GLPs prescribes without a blink of an eye, now sitting in a normal weight range for the first time in his life. A nice person he is not, and seeing this feels like a slap on my face, given my stacked awful genetics, aversion to sport and messed up hormones. Functioning like this isn't possible for me. Swimming, walking, a lot of cardio - the weight does not budge. Food is something I'm mindful with, a reasonable diet is what I follow, and more often than not I undereat. Nothing. Dieticians have been worked with and all that comes out of it is frustration and a diminished bank account.
In my heart I am also deeply angry at the pharmaceutical industry gatekeeping GLP1s and letting celebrities get to Ariana Grande level while NHS denies medication to me since I am not obese and unhealthy enough. A private prescription was paid for, but with a Single Person Tax and the current cost of living in the UK, continuing isn't possible. Diabetes or a heart condition before help arrives is not what I want. Preventative is not what they are; they only act once it's bad. And bad is not where I want to get.
So hello all. A gray weight loss journey it is instead.
